Character Name: Levi Lunel Luwaby.Lunel Luwaby
ravenclaw • sixth • sixteen • homosexualskill • pacifist • driven • time-travler
Nickname(s): None.
Job: Student.
Age: Sixteen.
Date of Birth: March 4th, 1930.
Blood Status: Muggle-born.
Sexual Orientation: Predominately homosexual (4 on the Kinsey scale). This means mostly gay, but there's a remote chance may fall for a girl. It's very remote and may be unlikely.
Wand: His wand is springy, but delicate at ten inches long. It is made of ebony wood which brings in a black color and makes his wand one of the darkest colored wands available. His wand does have a slight spiral curve to it, which if straightened out would be around thirteen and a half inches. His wand is slightly flexibile and yet is actually quite light. It feels lighter than most others as it is crafted with a fairy wing core. His wand feels as light as a quill feather pen. With this wand it's easier to cast charms, but yet harder to master some spells. In all, he finds them all a bit powerful when he finally does master something. Levi takes great care of his wand. As time goes on, the type seems to be getting rarer. His wand is well over a hundred years old and crafted in 1864.
THE PERSONALITY
Boggart: Fear. Fear attacks when one doesn't expect it. Levi fears things, the list grows smaller as he ages. He had lived through some of the most fearful days known to humanity. What does he fear? Simple things like spiders are a great example. But, his greatest fear is seeing the rise of purists once again. He knew what it was like to be at the opposite end of the controlling purist parties. The purity wars seem to simply repeat itself. The cycle needs to break in his opinion. He's afraid that purebloods that rise once again will attack his muggle roots.
Dementor: Levi tries his best to keep the past far into the past. His past is full of nightmares and plagues. Some of his memories are bad, some are of pain, some are of just fear. The worst of them all to him is the one where he was at home with his family and they all got arrested. He couldn't defend himself when he was arrested. He and his family was arrested by the Vichy (French Police) and locked in a stadium in the heart of France before being handed over to the Germans.
He has other bad memories such as the time of realizing people he knew disappeared and died, or watching someone close to him die. From torture, to being beaten. These memories give him enormous drive to be a better wizard, a better person, a stronger person.
Erised: In the mirror of Erised Levi sees something that means a great deal to him. When explaining what he sees to someone else he'd simply share a simple story of how he sees himself with a large smile across his face and a wand outstretched, perfectly fine with everything and how he was at that time. He had learned to accept the past and knows it cannot be changed anymore. In reality, in the mirror he sees himself back in the 1940s with his family at a park in London. He misses them dearly. But, he knows it won't happen, knows it is only false hope, so he would continue to go with his false story until he completely came to believe in it. Over the last few months, Levi had made great strides in making himself believe his deepest desire was to be happy and convinced himself to accept the present.
Patronus: Memories exist. He has a great deal of great memories. But, the strongest and happiest memory he has is the first few moments he spent in the United Kingdom inside the British Ministry of Magic. From the moments they used the portkey to get to France from Poland to taking the Floo Network to get into the United Kingdom, this was the first time he had felt safe in a long time... He was relieved and happy. He would be quite surprised if he could produce a patronus, however his animal would be a cottontail tamarin.
Veritaserum: If he could possibly go back into the past now, he wouldn't want to. He feels horrible about this, but, he likes the world now then what it was.
Likes:
- French Wine - Hey, he's French. Don't blame him. He's relieved to finally be sixteen and is allowed to legally have alcohol at some places. He's French, he grew up in wine. Not being able to have it with meals... Is simply weird for him.
- Running - One of Levi's great hobbies and pastimes is running. He loves to run through the castle and around the grounds. He has always been an early riser and constantly runs in the morning.
- Strawberries - He's in complete and absolute love with strawberries. They are his favorite food and smell.
- Dancing - He doesn't know many of the modern dances. But, they seem fun enough. Ladies and boys are more than welcome t odrag him out under the stars to dance.
- Chocolate Frogs & Famous Wizard Cards - They're amusing to eat. The cards are also curious and provide parts of history of their world.
- Fast & Americanized Food - Americans have had an influence on society when he was growing up, but their influence in the modern world is drastic. Levi sees food he has never dreamed of and loves how instant muggle food is, cooked fast enough to compete with magical means while tasting great.
- Reading - Reading is a great pastime, he reads in both English and French. He loves fiction and history books.
- Wandless Magic - This is somewhat of an obsession. Mostly older wizards experiment with this, but he tries. He's not powerful enough to do any real spells with this. The greatest thing he has done with this was simply telling a school broom up and summon a pen to his hand or a wand that's a few feet away. He can also do lumos from a few feet from his wand.
- History - This boy is fascinated by history. Completely and utterly fascinated by history and seeks to understand it.
Dislikes:
- Breakfast - He has never been a big eater in the mornings. If he ever eats in the morning it's because he forces himself to. He prefers to just skip breakfast.
- Burnt food - Who the hell likes burnt food?
- Asian Cuisine - He doesn't like Asian food at all, especially Chinese.
- Skunks - There was an incident... As a kid. He doesn't exactly want to revisit that memory.
- Forgetful - Most seem to relate to this... Levi dislikes when he forgets something. Though, forgetting things is a blessing, especially for Levi's past. However, he'd much rather to remember for now.
- Camps - He doesn't like camps. Even summer camps. T hey remind him of concentration camps.
- Poland - He refuses to return to Poland. Even to see the ruins. He will not go back.
- Nightmares - He gets brutal nightmares and has for a while. He tries to pretend they don't happen.
- Hot Days - He doesn't like extremely hot days. He prefers the cooler days.
- Bugs - Spiders are the worst animal in the world in his opinion. The only bugs he can accept in this world are butterflies.
- Politics - Politics tires him. He had seen his government fail once. He had seen the French government and the law enforcement fail to protect their citizens. He does respect the governments, but, he expects them to protect and do whats best for the people and the country. Not mere war politics. He's just done with politics. He doesn't trust it.
- Synagogues - Even though he is Jewish, he feels that his God has betrayed him. He feels betrayed by his religion and questions his faith. He refuses to step inside the holy grounds of his religion he grew up in.
- Hebrew. He's Jewish born. He knows he is. But, being magical pushed his religion aside so he could focus on learning the mysteries of magic. He never liked the language and always had trouble trying to learn it. It is a part of him, but, he doesn't enjoy the language at all. He finds the language too crude.
Strengths:
- Driven - Levi is an extremely driven young mind that strives to move forward in life and the world.
- Intelligence - He's book smart and smart from practice. He tries and strives to be his best in anything he sets his mind to.
- Pacifist - He is against war, against fighting and seeks to live in peace.
- Protective - Despite being pacifist, this does not mean he is defensive and protective. If pacifism doesn't work, he will defend including up to his own life.
- Loyalty - Without a doubt Levi holds great pride to his loyalties. Those that earn his loyalties will rarely find it betrayed and will earn his trust, nearly blindly.
- Strong Spirit - The boy has had his world shattered time and time again, yet his spirit has always rebounded. His spirit has never truly been broken and hence has a very strong spirit.
- Listener - This boy can listen and sit still for long periods of time as someone rants off about their day or life story. He holds patience and is a listener.
- Help - He is willing to ask for help and being able to ask for help does provide a great advantage when it comes to academics.
Weaknesses:
- Hides Pain - The teenager hides his pain, he has learned a great deal at hiding his emotional pain as well. The pain can rip him apart, pieces at a time. He overlooks physical and emotional pain, and tries to hide it and deny it until cornered down.
- Defensive - Even though this can be a strength, he will protect his integrity no matter what. He'll go a step too far, but he'll rarely ever get violent.
- The Past - His past is a plague, he doesn't want to dwell in it. The past comes back to him at random times and attacks his emotional stability.
- Withdrawal - The boy has issues, usually on anniversaries of certain dates. When in withdrawal he'd simply space out and lose a few moments and shake his head pretending everything is fine.
- Stubborn - He doesn't like to budge on some things.
Quirks & Habits:
- He collects Famous Witch and Wizard cards. He once had a great collection of them, which would surely be worth something now, but the collection is long gone and he is starting over.
- If he has a necklace on he constantly chews on it and fiddles with it.
- He loves to run as a hobby, sport, and a pastime. It is an escape.
- When bored in class he taps his fingers on desks or taps is feet.
- His accent seems more classical and overly polite. He had learned English at a young age and has a mastery in the language. His French accent and a few words of the language can break through at times. His accent sounds a bit "older".
- He can be found rubbing his left forearm, where the numbers A-15694 are tattooed onto his skin.
Detailed Personality: Ever since a young age Levi had always been a clever, resourceful, and intelligent person. He always sat and thought his tactics through and enjoyed going to school. He fell in love with reading and sitting on his father's lap as they read books in both English and French in front of the fireplace. Unlike most other muggle-borns he did not grow up with a television in his early years. He did not personally have a television in his home. But, going to the cinema was a family ritual for family movies. He was quite scared when magic showed up, but thrilled when explained what it meant by a representative from Beauxbatons. He was thrilled about the very aspect of being a part of an entirely new world.
As he grew up, his family grew worrisome seeing he was different from his siblings. His siblings had been highly social, but, he himself was not at first. They tried to get him to be more outgoing, but, did not have much time with it. He was lucky to have a family with a comfortable existence, a small nest egg. They lived somewhat of a comfortable life and were good parents whom spent a lot of time with their kids. He loved spending the time outside with his father throwing around a ball, running, playing random games that they had picked up. His father was a runner as well, so they would spend their mornings skipping breakfast (that annoyed his mother very much) and spend an hour or so running around the city streets. It was noticed that Levi could get very attached to people, as he done with his father.
He is an extremely determined and devoted person, he cares about people around him and shows extreme loyalty. He will prioritize things by importance to himself. He had strong ambition, but, his ambition is easily overridden and blinded by love. When he loves someone, he's willing to go all out for them. He won't question his loyalty to them. Levi has a strong drive to push him forward. He has bad memories that make him want to better himself which helps him push himself further. He is very loyal to anyone whom has earned his trust, or to a cause he had devoted himself to.
Levi fears the French government even to the modern day. He feels strongly that they have failed to protect their citizens and their citizen's rights. He witnessed the Vichy (French Police) arresting himself and his family just for their beliefs. He was raised Jewish and even had a bar mitzvah once he was free from persecution in Britain. With magic entering his life, from his sister first showing signs of it to himself showing an interest in magic; his family never questioned their faith and viewed it as a gift from God. They saw it as his sister was gifted with a great gift. When Levi ended up showing magic as well, his parents felt overwhelmingly proud. They made him promise he would only use it for good, for God's will. After the events of being arrested by the French police, the internment camp, long grueling train ride, the concentration camp he was shaken emotionally and broken down wondering what he had done wrong, why it was wrong to simply be born of faith.
In the present time he is a very curious person. Levi wonders how new muggle technology works. He wants to know what happened and how the muggles have evolved their society as it was so much different from what he remembers. He'd like to trade what little currency he has to try and buy a muggle gadget when he's at home over a break. However, adjusting to them is hard. He is like a teenager learning a brand new piece of software. He does have a conflicted personality. He tells people he does miss the past. He wonders what life could have been like if his accident never happened. However, a deep secret he is afraid to admit is the fact he really doesn't want to go back into the past. He knows he doesn't want to go back and he hates himself for it. He was relieved when a time turner test wouldn't work with him any longer. Even though he drastically misses his family, he finds the future much more appealing and now his present time. He is determined to make it his own time.
Levi is homosexual for the most part. He knew he was since he was fourteen. He realized it when his hormones came up and he and his friends started showing interest in sexuality and sexual things. His friends would beckon about the ladies, but, Levi never felt the same and felt different. He felt he liked males more, and thought he'd just grow out of it. It wasn't until he was fifteen years old and socked in the jaw of when he learned what he really was, a homosexual. His sister told his parents and they told him it was okay. At the time, the British weren't very accepting but the French people were even though they betrayed him. He's afraid to go back to France, he won't step aside. He doesn't want to go to any country that once had a German occupation.
In the present time he is lost and confused. He still suffers from nightmares and is having trouble adjusting to his new life. He's overly curious and always has been and his personality is starting to show what his dominant traits are after being displaced into a new time that he does not know anything about. He has been having sleepless nights and been pushing himself too far trying to avoid sleep, to avoid the nightmares until late hours into the night. Levi is separated and really feels he needs new friends. He lost everything and everyone he ever really cared about. He's having a tough time adjusting to the modern day. He's getting the hang of things, just as if he was a foreign exchange student which is not at all common. He's quickly adjusting where he needs to. He's getting used to very little sleep and taking showers late at night when nobody is around so they wouldn't hear him fall to his knees and have flashbacks about the past, sobbing.
If he were to step in front of a mirror of erised, and asked to explain what he sees. He'd state he saw himself where he is now, with his wand outstretched with a large grin on his face. But, when he does look he sees himself in the past, so far in the past with his family, including his father in a park in London all with large grins on their faces. He misses his family dearly, it stole his heart to realize that all of his family was gone. He knows it won't happen, he knows it is false hope, but he retains hope nonetheless. Over the past few months Levi had made great strides in making himself belief his deepest desire was to be happy and to accept himself.
He fears war. He doesn't like war. He seen how it ravaged the world, he fears being imprisoned once again. He fears trains, as he was stuck in one for a long period of time. He likes open spaces, to be able to go out and explore. Smell the fresh air and not thick smoke. He's a driven, intelligent, protective young person with a strong sense of loyalty and ambition. He has a strong spirit that had never been truly broken, and always rebounded to himself. He's proven himself to be a great listener. But, he has downfalls from how stubborn he can be, to being defensive, to even be in withdrawal on certain dates where he just wants to avoid the world. He tries not to dwell on the past.
A problem that has arisen in Levi was the fact that he hides his pain. When he's emotionally hurt, he hides it. Physically hurt, he hides it. He allows the pain to rip apart at him, he simply bottles it all up, pieces at a time. He overlooks his pain, and tries his best to overlook it until he has a moment alone such as a shower in the middle of the night.
He has an absolute love with fresh fruit, such as strawberries. Ever since coming to Britain back in the 1940s he loved to collect Famous Witch and Wizard Cards, he once had a decent collection of them, but his mother only retained a few of the older ones. He wants to try and rebuild his collection. He loves to run, it's his hobby, sport, and pasttime. He constantly chews on his necklace, he loves having a necklace around his neck, and he currently holds one with a ring on the string, his mother's and father's old wedding rings. It means the world to him. He constantly is found rubbing his left forearm, where the numbers are tattooed onto his skin. He is still fascinated by history, by sports, by dancing, and the way culture has changed. He loves how the British are now much more open.
But, he dislikes Asian food, breakfast (he never ate breakfast since he was a kid), he hates to forget things, and he also hates nightmares... Which he gets quite a few of. Politics tires him, he had seen his government fail once, he had seen the French government and the law enforcement fail to protect their citizens. He respects governments, but, he expects them to protect their people at all costs. Not war politics. He dislikes speaking in Hebrew, though he's Jewish born. He dislikes going to Synagogues. He feels that his god has betrayed him, he feels betrayed by his religion and questions his faith. He refuses to even crack open the Torah. He never liked Hebrew as he always found it too crude and difficult as a child. Religion is now his past. He feels betrayed by the God he once believed in.
All in all Levi is a fragile person, who is out of place and had already seen some of the worst horrors in the world. But, he retains his happy memories, such as his first few moments in the United Kingdom, the relief of safety overcoming him realizing that he was finally safe to where he was first left the camp in Poland, to even a memory of flying a broom for the first time. One of his gentlest memories, is the cottontail tamarins, which had now become his patronus.

Detailed History: It was a rainy day in the small suburb outside of Boulonge-sur-Mer, France. The small suburb hadn't had very many people people living within the borders. But, everyone was clustered up and grouped together to go work on a boat to Great Britain or fish. That was the entire economy of the town and community. But, a woman by the name of Aiana Lunel didn't go on a boat that day, oh no. She was in childbirth. It was a thrilling time for her and her husband. Her husband, Noah Lunel was hoping for a son and had prayed for a son.
Ariana and Noah already had a daughter, so a son would finish their perfect family and make it perfectly square... A perfect four: mom, dad, daughter and son. He wanted a son so he could teach him the ways of the world, work with him, show him how to be a gentlemen, and do things with his young son that wouldn't fit his daughter's tastes. He loved his daughter without a doubt as he loved his wife without a doubt. But, he still continued to hope for a son. He was thrilled when the birthing was mere moments away. He was ready for whatever gender his second child would be, and would love him or her all the same.
To his luck, on the afternoon of the rainy day of the fourth day of March in the year of nineteen thirty his second child was born. The child was a boy, as he so wished and prayed for. He didn't hesitate naming his child at all. Levi Lukas Lunel. The first name was shared with his grandfather, his middle name was of a Swedish man that had once saved Noah's life. The last name, Lunel is shared from heritage.
Oh, how thrilled Noah was to have a son. Even though his son still managed to kick his ass as well as the ass of his mother by staying up all night screaming and seemingly never wanting to sleep. It took eleven months before his parents were able to sleep for more than an hour at a time because Levi simply loved to wake them up at the worst possible times. Raising Levi through his infancy had been hard and difficult compared to their first child whom slept through the night, whereas Levi slept through the day. He was not an easy child and he took his toll on his parents in his infancy.
His toll remained within him as he grew up and hit his toddler years. As a toddler he loved to run about and touched everything. Levi didn't understand what the word 'non' (no in English) meant. Constantly his parents and even his big sister lightly swatted his hand or tell him things were hot. He constantly ignored them and kept doing what he wanted. Nobody told little Levi what to do. It was Levi's world. He was the king as far as two year old him was concerned.
As was standard in the time he was born and raised, for the most part he was raised by his mother. His father had to go to work and was gone most of the days out on a boat. Levi felt surrounded by girls, especially after his younger sister Christina was born when he was four years old. Levi was actually quite excited at the aspect of having another child in the family. He wanted a little brother, but he didn't get his way. He really didn't want a baby sister. It was the opposite for his older sister Camille who wanted another sister. The two argued, and Levi argued the best he could despite being four years old and not having mastered the language as well as his older sister.
It honestly was quite a surprise for them to have a third child as there was a eight year gap between Camille and Levi. It took Noah and Ariana years of trying to even get Camille in the first place. They never expected to be blessed with three children. When their father came home Levi insisted on alone time with his dad, even if it was just sitting on his dad's lap as his dad read a book or the paper.
It was the 1930s, their family was hit hard. The Great Depression hit the United States the most severely, but, with the United States other countries fell, and France lost a great deal. Levi's father, Noah was lucky enough to get a job during this hard time, at a severe pay cut of what he once made. Things became harder in life for them as money dried up and the little they did have went straight to food. Their diet became mostly filled with fish as Noah brought home a great deal of fish each day. Luckily life wasn't as hard in France as it was across the channel in Great Britain or across the vast ocean in America, or even a country along the border, Germany. Their neighbors were hit hard. France only became more self-dependent about this.
Nonetheless, it was still hard as Noah's job depended upon trade with the United Kingdom. With trade cut out, so was a great deal of revenue. They weren't ever a wealthy family, but they did well enough to get lessons and schools. Every centime Noah and Camilla made went straight to the wellbeing of their three children. Levi was expected to take more education than his sisters. He was the boy and he was expected to learn to read and write, focus on mathematics over simply drawing, art, and learning to sew like his sisters. He went on the boat a few times while growing up with his dad learning to tie a rope and growing sick of the smell of fish. Things like a television didn't occur to him in life, nobody he knew could really afford one.
When he was seven years old he got to go to the zoo, in Paris for the first time with his family. He had been to Paris once before with his dad. He rode in the back of the truck and spent the day at his dad's side whom was selling and signing papers. His dad sold fish, sometimes his dad went fishing but mostly he just sold them and told people where they went. He and his younger sister went to the zoo together, his older sister wanted to stay with a friend and hence she didn't come. But, the two got separated from their family and had gotten lost together. They did not realize they were lost and that their parents were going frantic trying to find where they went. Needless to say, the two had quite an adventure. They went on exploring the zoo and eventually found themselves in the cage of some exciting monkeys.
Levi rather liked the small little monkeys, the cottontail tamarains. Later that day their parents were chewing them out on their way home and grounding them both. Ariana freaked out of the next series of events that happened when she was yelling at Levi stating that he should've known better while dragging him by his ear and pushing him back into his room. The window in his bedroom shattered. He had just gotten a bedroom to himself just a few months before when times were improving for their family. And already, glass shattered across the room. It freaked them all out, wondering how such a thing had happened... But, it was Levi's first sign of magic. His parents were actually quite shocked. They told him about Camille, and why Camille went off to visit a "farm" during special months of the year.
The signs of magic continued as his eighth and ninth birthdays passed on by. Glass shattered, his hair seemed to grow back in a matter of minutes. The rabbis at the local synagogue couldn't tell why. 1939, a great year for France, it was the last year someone was guillotined in public! Though, Levi didn't like the idea of that and had never been to one. It was the first year of Tour de France, which he proudly watched with his father. All in all it was a great year that got even better.
1940. Just two months after his tenth birthday Germany attacked the borders of France, and took over some of the neighboring countries. They became worrisome. But, they weren't at his home yet... They were safe for a while anyway. The French government left Paris and fled to Bordeaux. Verdun France fell, the local men gathered guns and weapons and gun powder, bought some from across the channel from England... Just in case. In May 1940, Boulogne-sur-Mer came under fire despite the attempts of the British Guards and the French trying to defend it off. It worked, they were safe for time being. Despite their fears, they stayed home and kept their heads down. They stopped going to the synagogue.
Things got even stranger when a strange woman dressed in bright blue robes that seemed to sparkle under the sun showed up at their home. This strange woman claimed she was from a place in Cannes called Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. It was such a large distance, on the other side of the country. They were all wondering why would some woman from Cannes come all this way just to talk to Levi and Levi's parents. She asked for Levi and Levi's parents to gather as they had business to discuss. Levi out of curiosity asked the lady if she was a Nazi only to hear her laugh in response.
It was curious why this woman was in their home, but then she begun explaining events such as the shattered window, hair growing out fast, door splitting, of how they were acts of magic. Anything weird, all of the weird events were explained and told it was magic. The woman explained of a different world, a world of vast magic, a world that was loved and yet hidden from their very eyes. It was hard to believe until the woman performed magic. This was a lot for them to take in. Apparently she had visited their home once before about nine years previously, Levi wasn't there. He didn't know much about his sister except that she visited sometimes and was leading a life of her own.
She explained how Levi was what they call muggle-born, and how he has a duty to learn and master magic to harness his gift for the betterment of society. She spoke of the school, the foods, the books, the supplies he'd need. Levi's father was worried about the cost and still found it hard to believe. The woman assured them that the costs were taken care of already. She promised to be back the next day. And there she was, the next day appearing in the middle of their living room out of thin air to their amazement. She took Levi and his two parents to the fireplace and threw some powder into the roaring fire and asked Levi to step in first along with his parents. Luckily, Christina was off with Camille for the day. Seemingly Camille knew just the right time to pick Christina up.
She had to drag Levi's father. They all appeared in a shopping center in Paris, but, only Levi didn't know it was Paris. If they knew they were going to Paris Noah would've objected. Going to Paris when it was an open city was not a good idea. The objects and the magic was overwhelming, it seemed so hard for him to fathom there was another world. Levi was thrilled and excited. Levi asked why he had the ability and not others. It took the woman some time to give him a response, trying to think of the best way to respond. Levi stated he hadn't heard of anything like it in the Torah, besides God himself. The woman smiled and spoke, "It is not a testament of your faith. It is a gift from your God for you to do great things." Those were all the words he needed. This woman, named Brigitte from Beauxbatons had became one of his heroes and those words still echo through his mind.
The stories he heard when talking to other wizard kids were unbelievable. He was very interested in the sport of Quidditch and asked several questions about it. School was thrilling to him, his first year was fascinating. Though, he was jealous of some classmates that had older siblings there. He wished his sister was still there. The woman did strike a deal with Levi, telling him not to declare he is muggle-born and she would spend time with him catching him up on magical history, customs, clothing styles, and celebrities. She came back almost every afternoon teaching him of the magical world. When she couldn't make it, Camille took him out to explore. Because of this, Camille had introduced Levi to her boyfriend which she made him promise to keep secret from their parents.
They taught them normal things magical kids would know, for Levi wouldn't be behind in school. It worked to an extent. He got through his first year at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic... It was a strange school, but he noticed there were way too many girls to his liking there and not many male students. He and wondered why there were so many girls, but he never questioned it. His parents told him to work hard for his gift, and hence he did in hopes one day he could do great things with it. He practiced, and practiced. He took an instant liking to History of Magic and Charms above all else, he did very well in most of his subjects, except for Transfiguration which he barely passed.
His second year came, the school year of 1941 to 1942. Vichy France was at its power, Paris was defeated and controlled by Germany. The Prime Minister of France seceded the nation, in hopes to get peace with France and protect French lives. Politicians were put into place that favored the ruling party of Germany much to the dislike of the French people. But, all were afraid to speak. Levi went back to school, his family spent the year moving elsewhere, trying to get to Southern France to get away from German occupation and the border of Germany and Britain. They had a hard time trying to escape down to Cannes.
In Levi's second year his grades held up quite well, eleven years old he learned to pick up his Astronomy and Transfiguration grades. Charms surprisingly became his weakest and History of Magic became his strongest. He had begun taking Muggle Studies while he was there as well, the professor spoke of how the muggles tried to replace magic with ever-growing technological fields that kept shrinking their small world. Levi thought it was hilarious and found himself in detention once because he couldn't stop laughing at one of the analogies the muggle studies professor made. The professor realized in detention that he was muggle-born and became quite thrilled, that in December he had asked him of Hanukkah that fell on December 14 of the year 1941. The school year was still there, he had to spend the holiday at school without his family. The professor was fascinated by the holiday and asked him explain his religion in class to the other students. He identified himself as a Jewish muggle-born child, but, many of his classmates didn't care as they had already gotten to know him now and respected the muggle culture enough to take the class.
Without Levi's knowledge, the Muggle Studies professor worked with Brigitte and arranged for them to have a meal outside of the massive hall where they usually ate. An empty large room was used, many of the young witches and wizards, Levi's classmates and some from other years showed up wanting to know of the holiday. It had become a discussed thing from the war, as the muggles attacked over blood. It correlated into their world quite well. A few professors from other subjects were interested in it, it made Levi feel at home. It was the first time he celebrated a religious holiday without his family. He skipped the one year before as he went home for it. This year, it was too dangerous for him to go home and hence he stayed at school. Some children talked about a war, Levi stared at them and asked "What war?" He didn't really know much about it, the German invasion. He was mostly sheltered from it.
At the end of the year, the Charms professor, whom happened to be the lady that introduced him to the world, Brigitte told him she expected more of him and she wanted him to practice more. She came over during the summer, at the new house his parents were at in 1942. She practiced Charms with him and spoke to his younger sister, Christina whom showed her first sign of magic as well, formally inviting his young sister to Beauxbatons the next school year. This pleased Levi, finally somebody he knew! "There are few muggle-borns at Beauxbatons, Christina. Your brother, Levi is the only one in his years. I come here, Christina to give you the advantage, the magic exposure the other children get and you two never had gotten." She explain, Levi wondered why she bothered to come, and she stated she lived nearby.
But, something happened that summer. They were arrested. Vichy French guards came in and arrested them. Levi was in the bathroom, his parents were grabbed, so was his little sister, and older sister who was visiting for the day. Levi was stunned in fear. He tried to hide by the staircase and was backing away toward the backdoor. But, a man came behind him and picked him up. He kicked and kicked. His older sister broke free from the guard and quickly grabbed for Christina and disappeared into the air. Levi and his parents, Noah and Ariana were dragged away. He didn't have his wand on him. It was in his bedroom.
The guards were confused, but didn't tell others of the events that had happened. They were dragged to a holding place, and eventually put on a railway transport. Levi had been sheltered from what was happening with Germany and why they were arrested. His father spoke to him on the train, explaining to him what Germany had done to France, how they ruined France. He explained what the Drancy internment camp was, but he didn't know where the train was off to. He explained the French distaste for Jewish. Levi was confused. The train ride was long, horrible, and rough but it ended and they were welcomed to an infamous place called Auschwitz.
In the camp, things were strange. Immediately their father was separated from them. A solider asked in broken French how old was Levi. Levi immediately coughed up "Twelve". The guard smiled and pushed him, his mother, and sister into another line keeping them together. His father went to a line, a separate line and he had no idea why. They were forced to strip. Well over 13,000 Jewish French citizens were arrested in Paris alone, they were outside of Paris, to the North a bit because they have moved away from the sea. Everything they've ever known was stripped from them.
The train ride was long and grueling. The camp in Poland, he didn't learn much about until he was locked inside of it, the Auschwitz Birkenau German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp. It was just hard enough for Levi to try and understand why fellow Frenchmen would arrest other French and give them to an enemy. His arm was grabbed before his mother and sister's. A large man leaned down onto his arm and dragged a sharp needle across engraving his arm. The numbers 15694 were given to him, a pair of clothes were thrown at him and he was yelled at in German to pick them up. He did and quickly put them on. He was terrified and shaky, having no idea what to do. The patches weren't sewed onto his uniform very well at all. The yellow triangle was strange. He wanted to know what they meant. But, he was afraid to ask.
Time went by, he never saw his father again. His mother was there and so was his sister. He was glad they were there. He was starving, a few months went past and he had Scurvy, he barely ate. His mother split her rations between him and his sister. He felt bad, but he ate because his mother forced him to do so. Work was hard, he was assigned to a masonry team, where they laid foundations to expand the camp. He felt bad about it, but one of the other workers told him he got off lucky. Time passed by, he no longer knew what day it was. His thirteenth birthday passed by and he had no idea that he was thirteen anymore. His body begun growing some hair in strange places. He asked his mother one night after a hard day of work. His mother erupted in laughter about it as did many of the men and women whom were older than him as Levi was one of the youngest in his bunker. They explained to him that it was puberty starting, him turning into a man. It just added to his confusion.
November, 1943 something happened in the late night of the camp. He heard noise and woke up. He crept up to the window and looked out carefully to only have his mother pull him back down. Levi pushed his head back up to look what was going on. A woman was walking in the camp, a few men appeared at her side out of thin air, one raised their hand and the guard that approached them was knocked down to the ground. Levi recognized the woman under the dim light, her robes sparkled, it was Brigitte. She kept her promise. The glass on the window disappeared from the bunker.
Levi pulled himself up and jumped out telling his sister and mom to come on. He ran straight to his Charms professor, Brigitte and gave her a tight hug and broke down crying himself. His mother and sister grasped the woman as well, and the others in the bunker were confused at what was happening. Brigitte spoke, “Wipe their memories. We need to get out of here.” It made Levi feel bad, it pained all of them to watch as the memories being wiped from so many muggles that would likely face their deaths. His charm's professor handed him his wand back, and asked him to clean himself up. He did so, and his sister and mom. They were grasped onto by some of the men and Levi was grasped by Brigitte. They disappeared and found themselves in a place, a shiny place in the south of France.
He stood there, looking at the people around him. Brigitte, his mother, his big sister and her fiancé, a woman named Roksana and a guy named Fedir. There were some others. But, they were forever engraved into his mind as heroes that day. They grabbed onto him and apparated away to a portkey which they ordered him to touch to carry him back to France. Back in France they did not stay long.
"I don't have a lot of time to explain. It took me months to track you down. Your father, I'm afraid he's gone. Your sister is fine, Levi," She spoke, mostly addressing Levi but more talking to the room. Christina appeared in the doorway and ran and tackled them into a hug, running to their mother first. They were glad Christina was alright. "Take these papers, they are British identification papers. The British Ministry of Magic will protect you all. Do not come back to France, our government is corrupted." She continued talking about the events that had happened, Levi was nervous about going to a new place and the fact he was behind. "Levi, dear... Take this." the woman handed him a necklace, that had an hourglass on it. "It is a time turner. It will allow you to catch up in school. You missed an entire year. Someone will explain it to you."
Levi looked at the paperwork and talked to his parents and the group. His name was changed. He was now Levi Lunel Luwaby. They changed his last name. They explained why, but he wasn't really paying attention to them and was instead focusing on his siblings.
Being in the United Kingdom changed things a great deal. He was with his little sister and his mother. They had a place in London. His older sister returned to France, stating she had to help others and stay for her fiancé. But, things were messed up because of what had happened. But, the time turner allowed him to catch up because the school year. He didn't start immediately in 1943 to the 1944 term, as he was too skinny, too small, he needed to become healthy once again and a man came to their home often teaching them slang, and trying to perfect their English to get rid of his accent the best they could. It took a lot of help, but his accent disappeared bit by bit, it was lucky because he learned English from his father when he went to work with his father whom sometimes did business in English. He missed his dad a lot... A great deal.
He started at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the next year. He had a private sorting ceremony, his sister now eleven went to Hogwarts for her first year as Brigitte thought it'd be best for her to go to a British school instead of French. Levi learned to use his time turner to take a lot of classes with the help of his new head of house. It meant his nights he was extremely exhausted and tired as he stayed up late in some professor offices learning. He caught up rather quickly. He was in this third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Things have changed over time, he didn't understand the aging system. But, he simply did as he was told. The Time Turner helped him a great deal to learn more, despite its toll.
Toward the end of his third year, a few weeks after his fourteenth birthday he worked up the courage to ask a boy to dance. The boy laughed and accepted the offer. He did the dance with the boy and then quickly kissed the boy on the cheek, thanking him for the dance... He was socked in the face for it. The boy was two years older and he was also Levi's first crush. Needless to say it wasn't a great crush. Levi ended up with a pretty bad bloody nose.
His fifth year, he retained use of his Time Turner even though he was caught up, but he used it so he could take a wider verity of electives and continue his English lessons, as his accent could now be controlled. He didn't really need the English lessons anymore halfway through the year so they came to an end, he took extra Charms classes, everything just piled up. He was a busy young teenager. But, something happened toward the beginning of the second half of his fifth year in 1946... These boys, upper years were harassing him and casting spells at Levi. Levi kept dodging them the best he could, not drawing his own wand at them. Last thing he needed was to get into trouble.
But, the seventh year threatened him, and spoke of how muggle-born boys shouldn't be in school with him. He spoke of how he screwed his sister, which made Levi furious and want to attack. But, the boy spoke some words that made Levi want to run, "I knew you're not like us boy. I know you're Jew. Shame them Germans aren't here to take you." Levi socked the boy in the face, breaking the nose cleanly, he got physical and didn't depend on magic. Levi felt bad almost immediately over this. He didn't like getting violent. Levi turned around and ran as fast as he could, but he ended up in a corridor.
He was trapped. The seventh year and his friends rose their wands at him, Levi dug his hands under his shirt and begun twisting the time turner, not paying attention to what direction, he just wanted out of there. He pulled the time turner out and twisted it a bit more, wanting a few hours away from the boys, but, the attacks caused him to lose grip of the time turner, while it kept spinning. He held onto the chain as a confundo charm smacked the side of his face drawing him into more confusion as a second confundo hit him from another boy, hit his hand and the time turner. It spun out of control and he disappeared.
He reappeared in the beginning of the summer of 2030. June 2030. School was still in session, he appeared in the corridor off by the great hall he ran into away from the attackers. His time turner was shattered, he cursed under his breath dropping the chain looking around. He was confused. Very confused. The spell that had hit him had hit hard. He stepped onto the time turner, shattering it even more. He bent down and picked up the chain necklace and the curious half broken hourglass, with no sand any longer. He picked up the pieces and scooped the sand and he put them into his pocket and walked forward, trying to figure out what to do.
He was severely confused and he walked backwards back to where he was. He was lost, he didn't know where he was. A few students walked by, eyeing his odd clothes. He eyed them back calling out something in French. Within moments a professor came and grabbed him by the arm and led him away to the headmaster's office. Soon there was debate of what to do with the boy. Levi placed his hands into his pocket as he watched curiously, slowly gaining back memory. "Ow!" he exclaimed.
"Oh là là! Où suis-je?" he asked several times. Freaked out, trying to figure out where he was.
He held his hand out, blood trickling down from the glass on it. The professors continued to talk, wondering how such a boy got here, one not enrolled in the school. His clothes were strange, and not alike anything wizards wore. Levi responded asking where he was, but in French that added to the confusion. He groaned and grasped his head, as there was a wound on his head and he had a black eye from the earlier altercation. Every time something was asked of him in English, he simply looked at the professor that found him first. It was the lost duck effect, he instantly trusted the one that found him. He looked up and finally begun responding in French. It took him a moment before he realized and begun speaking in English. "I used a time turner to get away... It broke. I don't remember who I was running from." Levi spoke, answering some questions. "Birthday? I was born in March 4, 1930?" The year caused a silence.
He was sent to St. Mungo's Hospital for a while to help him recover, and test him, and give him vaccinations for the updated population. The time turner even though shattered was taken from him as was his wand. He's not sure where the time turner went, but he never saw it again. He didn't know what would become of him at all. Over the summer he was placed in a foster family. Someone brought an elderly woman over to see him. He was wondering who she was before he realized it was Camille. She was 99 years old. She broke down into tears and hugged him tightly. She was so surprised to see him, and so surprised how young he was. Sadly, she passed away a few weeks later.
It took some investigation, testing, his age verification. It took a while before he was allowed to go back to school and luckily the information was sorted over the summer so he could go to his sixth year of Hogwarts, as a Ravenclaw. He stays quiet about his past, he's not under any strong gag order. Not many knew about him, most just thought he was just someone who was brought to Hogwarts for some reason. He's trying to reconnect with his world around him. Emotionally, Levi had always been a strong person. He lost everyone he ever cared about.
Now, he was a muggle-born boy, who survived one of the greatest disasters to ever effect humanity, to spiral into the future to the years where muggles going to space was common... Which was unfathomable when he was a kid. Levi feels lost, but is trying to make a home once again at Hogwarts. His wand was returned to him, he's confused of the new culture and world. Levi found one positive... He can wear short-sleeve shirts and nobody would question the numbers tattooed on his arm. He's curious of how the world has changed around him. But, he's still downed that he cannot go back, to the time he's from. He feels safe, but... He misses his home. He takes his showers late at night because nobody would hear his sobs.
