PHYSICAL DETAILS
Height: 5ft'11in"
Weight: 165 lbs
Build: scrawny, muscular, petite, etc.
Hair: Dark brown, generally short. It curls up when not combed out. Thick hair.
Eyes: Bright blue eyes, hidden under thick eyebrows.
Piercings: He has no piercings.
Tattoos: He has no tattoos.
Distinguishing Features: His hair curls doesn't seem to be a big distinguishing feature, but it is to him. He hates it and he likes it straight. Straight hair is better in his opinion. He has a small scar on his ankle where a garden gnome bit him quite hard, it's faded but it's still there. Still hiding. He has a strong chin. But, there's not much flawed in his body, as it's been well kept up. His perhaps main feature is his attitude, personality, and how he interacts with the world around him.
Style: Titan Shieldheart is a true child of the world. He's grown up in twenty-two different countries and has been influenced by a great number of them. He's seen fashion in places where woman hide their faces. He's been in places where people think it's fine to walk around in a lioncloth. He's been in places where nobody wore a suit and others where everyone wore suits. Titan has always been influenced by choices and cultures around the world, this has translated to his style. He's not afraid to use color in his wardrobe selection. A great majority of his clothes are from across the world.
He's not so great at choosing his clothes sometimes and at other times he is. He doesn't go clothes shopping on his own, he's usually with his dad, sister, or mother. He's a fashion seesaw for sure. Titan one day hits the fashion right, he has the right style, the right look, his hair's great, his shirt's great, jacket, shoes, pants. Everything is great. Other days his choices are a plain miss such as a sweater his grandma Clementine knitted him and he decided to wear it. He wants to be fashionable, dress cooler, but he doesn't actually understand fashion nearly enough. Everthing's either a hit or miss with him. Half the time he's decent, forty percent of the time he's plain wrong and needs to be sent back to choosing new clothes. Ten percent or less his clothes are fantastically chosen. It isn't an unusual scene for Artemis to grab Titan by his arm over the breaks and drag him back to his room and go to his closet and choose his clothes for him simply saying to him "Bad Titan! Burn that." Titan would defend it saying his grandmother gave it to him or others... Constantly coming up with excuses to defend his choice.
Titan clearly needs fashion help.

PHYSICAL DETAILS
Likes:
- Theater - Titan loves theater, he always has. He loves the performing arts, he loves the acting in them, the scripts, watching plays. He loves broadway around the world, any sort of high culture art. It's probably one of his most favorite things in the world. He once started in a Greek theater production himself, and he claims it was one of his favorite moments of his life.
- Drawing - Drawing is a passion for Titan. He had always loved drawing. He's gotten quite good at it over the years from endless practice. Because of his constant travel he had plenty of time to himself to draw. His sister and mother have always been supportive as staying still long enough for him to sketch them. Recently people at Hogwarts have stayed still long enough for him to draw them. He doesn't keep most of his artwork to himself, he gives them out. If he's not happy with it, he will hide it. Click for an example of a drawing of Noelle. His primary tool of trade is a pencil. Not ink, pencil, muggle pencils for artwork. He has done a great deal of his sister, Artemis whom is willing to sit still long enough for him and the fact he knows what she looks like well enough to draw her without constantly having to look.
- Family - Family is a major part of life for Titan. He has always loved and liked his family. Even at times of distressed, the knowledge of his family being there has been something he had always loved.
- Travel - He loves to travel. He's been to over thirty countries and he has lived in twenty-two different countries across the world. He's been on six of the seven continents. He just has one to go. His dad's been to space, his mother's job is to travel. He grew up with travel, always moving, always someplace new. He's always loved it.
- Food - God, does Titan ever love food. He'd eat anything put in front of him. Anything... Except for Beets. Never heard of the food before? Feed it to Titan. He has an appetite of the world, not just of the school.
- Magic - Magic is amazing to him. It always has been. He's been fascinated with magic and the history of the magical world. He likes having magic.
- Muggle - He loves the muggle world equally as much as the magical world. He grew up as a part of both. His father's an astronaut that has been to space, something wizards have yet to say for themselves.
- History - He loves history. Titan is truly a student of history. He's loved traveling across the world learning the history of other cultures. Because of his mother's job he had a chance to use pensieve that were first hand records of major events across world history.
Dislikes:
- Handwriting - Titan has always disliked his handwriting. He can't read his own handwriting half the time. He's ashamed of his handwriting and for essays he has to remember to print things out slowly so it's readable. Lately he's been resorting to more expensive quills to do his writing for him as he speaks, so it's at least legible.
- Beets - Though Titan loves all food... There is one exception to the rule: Beets. He hates them. Don't try to feed them to him.
- Bigots - Titan hates bigots, he always has. He hates racism, anything similar to that. He hates sexism. Hate is a strong word, but he does carry that hatred to them. This is one of the few things he sees in black and white and not several shades of gray. He witnessed parts of the holocaust through a pensieve and other great wars. He's witnessed bullying for being gay. He doesn't like bigots. Not one bit.
- Being Called Gay - He doesn't like being called gay. He's pretty damn sure he's not gay. He's not sure of his sexuality for sure, but he knows he's not gay. His family keeps insisting it's alright, it simply ticks him off.
- Dad's Constant Work - Titan's father, Jack is always at work as he's a military man. He's always off in some submarine somewhere, in the air somewhere, or even in space. When Titan has time off of school often times his father is gone for most of the time. He misses his dad, even though he's a momma's boy, he greatly misses his father.
- Being Interrupted While Drawing - There's no doubt about Titan's skill when drawing or sketching. But, he doesn't like being interrupted by it. He's okay with someone talking to him. But someone constantly pointing at his artwork, commenting on his technique, pointing at it, just distracting him or calling him to do something is simply distracting and interrupts him which can butcher the art work when he's in the zone.
- His Art Book/Sketchbook being stolen - He does not like his art book or his sketchbook, or whatever they're called being taken from his hands. The drawings in them are often for his eyes only. There's very few he'd trust to flip through all the book's pages and person isn't likely everyone. When he wants to show an artwork off he will. Otherwise, they're not to be shared. He has some very private things he sketch, including nudity or characters in things he's writing. Sometimes they're works in progress for other persons, and he doesn't like sharing until he's done.
- Parents Fighting - Parents fighting and arguing is one of the worst things Titan will admit about his parents. It terrifies him when he could hear them argue when they think he's asleep. He always comes out of his room and goes into his sister's room, or bed depending where they're staying and sits on the bed with her, not able to sleep as his parents argue. He doesn't feel right with this.
- Wet Dreams - This is perhaps the most frustrating thing about being a male that's not constantly sexually aroused. He hates, hates, hates waking up one morning to find that he's covered in a dried goo across his boxers and lower abdomen. His libido sometimes isn't all up to what it is, because he cannot find a way to arouse himself. He tries anyway, because it's a hassle having to wake up, replace his bedding and try to hide the embarrassing mess on his boxers. If he can avoid a wet dream, he will, even if it's a perfectly natural reaction for teenage males. It's just something... That needs to be avoided.
Strengths:
- Androit - Titan is great with his hands. He easily shares this trait with his sister. He's great with his hands for things that aren't for private manners. He can draw quite well, he has patience with his steady hands. He can build things, flick his wand in rapid movement. He's proud of his hands. They're truly quite possibly his greatest strength.
- The World is Gray - Titan sees the world in grays where others see it as a line of black and white. His sister, Artemis is known for seeing things in black and white, she either likes or hates, nowhere inbetween. Titan however is willing to compromise, willing to change and mold his opinions based on experiences. The world is gray to him. Everything is up for a question... Well, almost everything.
- Friendly - Titan is a good natured, friendly, trustworthy person. There's no question that he's dependable, of a good moral character. He can be trusted, he can hold respect.
- Intelligence - Titan has intelligence, but he doesn't deploy it as much. He may be smart in some things and creative in others, but, his intelligence and logic can hold him back.
- Creative - Not much to say on this strength, because his creativity is rarely questioned. He's willing to look at things in multiple viewpoints, to try and mold things, to mold his work.
Weaknesses:
- Pressure - Pressure is a high, that's unquestionable. He hates pressure when it builds up on him. Titan is a free soul, he's a floater. He doesn't like being chained down with pressure of the social pier on him. Social pressure is a big thing. His father says he needs to date, even though he's supportive of him being gay (which he's not), the idea of being a social butterfly with his peers just build up on him.
- Self-Esteem - His self-esteem is easily shot and pushed down. When he's made fun of it gets under his skin. He doesn't like bullying, getting made fun of. He lets things get to him.
- Floater - Titan is a floater, he's a free soul, a dreamer. He's not exactly down-to-earth. He sees the world in a different light than many. He's adaptable, but he often doesn't stick to one thing which can make him seem unstable.
- Socially Awkward - He's a penguin for sure. He's socially awkward, he's quiet, reserved, confused when it comes to things. He's a follower for sure, his friends need to lead him, take charge. He's in the background, a wallflower. When he speaks his words come out wrong, jumbled, or wrong. He can be repetitive when he speaks. Plainly put: socially awkward.
- Attached - Titan gets attached to things, greatly. He gets attached to people, to their company. He's attached to his artwork, to his processions. He's even attached to the places he lives around the world and finds it a bit hard to leave them when it's time to do so.
Fears:
- Garden Gnomes - Garden gnomes may be a magical creature, an actual creature. But, Titan got bit by one in Hogsmeade while visiting his Grandpa Garrison. Ever since that event he has been afraid of garden gnomes. He doens't like them at all and turns his head away from them quickly, including muggle ones.
- Approaching People - He's afraid to approach people to some extent, he would rather to be approached himself.
- Bugs & Mice - Cockroaches, spiders, mice, the little critters that go bump in the night. They terrify him. He's not afraid to admit it. He'd scream for his sister to kill them for him. He's a complete baby around them.
- Family Hardships - He had seen his dad step in front of a wand for him, he had seen a house burn down they lived in, he had seen his father deployed across the world. The time he seen his mother in tears over bad news about his father. Any hardships, he's afraid of them. They kill him.
- Divorce - He's afraid his parents will divorce. He's witnessed their fights before, they cost him sleep. He's always afraid his parents will separate, he doesn't want this. He needs them to stay together.
Secrets: Well, if he were gay that would be his secret, but he's pretty sure he's not an exclusive gay so that cannot be a secret even if his father thinks he is. When he was seven he was playing around with his mom's wand, he snapped the tip off and hid it in Artemis' room for her to get the blame.
Dreams:
- Succeed in art. He wants to be an artist, a good one one day. Any field of art.
- Find someone to fall for, has yet to happen. Wants kids.
- Visit every country in the world.
Quirks:
- Taps his foot.
- Talks way too fast when he's in a talking mood.
- Speech can be extremely repetitive.
- Gets brain freezes.
- Always organizes condiments at tables in restaurants.
- Drags his feet when he walks when not paying attention.
- His hands are always doing something, touching something, holding onto something.
- When shopping, adds up everything put into the cart to guess the cost.
- Draws random doodles constantly or always sketching something he sees. He even has hundreds of sketches of strangers.
Personality:
- Observant - Titan is observant of the world around him. He greatly appreciates the history of the world, human history, magical history, everything around him. He observes the habits of others and tries to learn who they are and what they do. He's a wallflower basically, he's in the background just sketching away in his sketchpad or off doing something on his own. He pays attention to small details before the big picture.
- Reflective - Being a reflective person is a core part of who he is, he thinks things through. He's not nearly as impulsive as his sister or his father. He tends to be more logical and want to think each step through as he's worried it may lead somewhere, somewhere important or may come back to bite him in the ass.
- Modest - Modesty. It is something Titan has and was pounded in his head in the times his father spent with him man-to-boy. He's learned to learn his own limits, to not push his limits nearly as much. He learned to stay within his limits to learn to set goals. It was important to his father that he doesn't burn himself out and finds himself without desire or passion to do anything. With a careful eye and moderation in his abilities and achievements it allowed him to get so much more done. When it comes to clothing and covering himself, that modesty goes out the window. He sleeps in his boxers, he doesn't care when Artemis crawls into his bed when upset when he's in his boxers as she's his sister. He walks around his house in boxers. His dad does too. He performed in a play and wore tight boxers for a majority of it, because he had just a lion cloth covering him.
- Dependable - Titan is dependable when it comes down to it. He's capable of being worthy of trust. He is a trustworthy person by far. He keeps his promises to the best of his ability. He tries not to neglect any promises or shrug them off. If he does and forgets about it and he feels horrible until he can find some way to make it up to the person. He tries to be there, he tries to hold trust, he tries to be honest. He's faithful to his friends, he's an anchor when needed to others even though he's not down-to-earth. He's responsible for what he does, always has been. All in all, Titan is a steady person.
- Good Natured - Titan has a good heart. He feels for people. He doesn't see the world in black and white like his sister Artemis does or his sister. He sees the world in similar eyes that his mother, Mayme Shieldheart does. Mayme works for the International Confederation of Wizards as a liaison between the muggle and magical worlds. She has to in daily life learn culture and learn to balance two very different worlds to find a middle ground. Titan got these traits and does the same to his life. He looks at things the best he could with the information available with him, he tries to do what is right. There's no solid black or white to him. The world is gray. His opinion is ever evolving. He's a kind and patient person.
- Adaptable - Titan is a resilient person with an adaptability to change his capacity to adapt to almost any environment. He's used to change. He has moved across the world several times. He's lived in a total of twenty-two countries. He recognizes the beauty around him, of his new surroundings and learns to love it. He tries to learn the culture, the history, the people to help him better understand where he is. He's a curious young man that bravely goes forth into strange places and tries new things, new foods, to develop and learn, and to learn to love wherever he goes.
- Sensible - With a non-impulsive and a steady personality Titan has been found to be reliable and steadfast to his family and group of friends. He conveys to others the idea that whatever they need he can help and he really does mean he can help. He gives promises out easily and tries his best to keep them. If his promises break, he feels bad and tries to right them. He doesn't bicker or have quarrels as much. He's not an argumentative soul, he can accept defeat. He doesn't waste his time on things (but he will waste it on gossip). He's mature. He's predictable at times. He's quite glad about this because being a realistic and reasonable person means a lot.
- Intelligent - Titan is not dumb. He's the furthest thing from dumb in some respects, but he's not a genius other. He struggles in some classes and in some others he excels in. But, he puts his mind to whatever he does. He does it for good reason: because he likes knowledge. He uses his creative side to push his intellect. He's logical which helps.
- Quiet - Being a quiet person isn't always one of the best traits, but it is a trait that helps him avoid being labeled a loud, chatterbox annoying person. He listens to people's feelings by being quiet. He's a listener by nature. He acts cautiously, with little impulse, he considers decisions from multiple angles all across the gray area before many of his acts. He's approachable even though he's always in the background. He is not an aggressive person. He holds well earned respect from others. He's proud of it.
- Socially Awkward - His social life is a problem for sure. He's a wallflower. He's constantly in the background, and seemingly has few friends. He wants more friends, but he doesn't know how to make them. He's afraid to approach people, and needs to be dragged to do it. He's quiet, awkward in conversations, he feels he gets lost quite easily in groups.
- Creative - He is a creative person. He's androit which means he's great with his hands. He can draw quite well and he's quite damn proud of it. He can use his hands for creative things from drawing to even spells. Creativity is a major part of his core character.
- Twin - Between him and his sister, Artemis is usually the strong one and constantly supporting him when he's finding things tough or upset about his parents fighting. At other times it's Artemis coming to him, crawling into his bed. He's sensible enough to know her well enough even when she's trying to hide what she is feeling, he simply knows. He learns the person. He calls her names, she calls and harasses him names, it makes her happy in the end. He builds off of his twin big time, his personality bounces off of hers and hers off of his. Titan wouldn't be whole without his twin. His twin balances him out. always has and always will. He loves her more than his parents, more than anything, really. She's been a constant at his side his entire life even despite their bickering, quarrels or her stealing his sketchbook and him stealing her diary. The two work quite well in the end.
- Sexuality - Titan is demisexual, he somewhat understands this meaning. He's taken a few sexuality quizzes on the internet and came to this conclusion himself. He becomes sexually attracted to those he's already romantically attracted to. But, he only becomes romantically attracted to those he's already has a relationship with, a strong friendship. He has to be attached to someone, has to have an emotional bond with someone before. He once had a crush on someone, that developed on a good friend he had when he was fifteen years old in Washington, DC. It was an old friend he met in Washington a few times before when his mother was off at work, the kid of one of his old nanny's.
Titan formed a crush on him, which surprised him. His first crush on a girl. He was quite sure he wasn't gay. Straight people didn't disgust him, nor did the parts. He just got the crush out of nowhere. It appealed to him. In Hogwarts he got a crush on one of his closest friends, who was a girl which evened it out. However, even though he is demisexual, it does not affect his arousal when alone when he needs to soothe himself in an attempt to avoid a wet dream. He hates wet dreams, so very much. His libido does come up to himself when it's something of his fantasy, one of his artworks, a story he wrote, a character, something in his mind that aroused him that he already was attached to... Commonly to writings or his drawings to characters he created and has been forming for a long time and invested himself in.

History: Meet Jack Dawson Urbano, Jack is a handsome young man with light brown hair. It's nice and wavy, always nicely groomed somehow. Mister Jack was born into a family, a family proud of their pure-blood, a proud British family with a wondrous home in Hogsmeade village, a pure wizarding village. But, as a child Jack watched his two older sisters go off to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He listened to their tales and stories of the great magical castle, he was eager to go. He couldn't wait until it was his turn to go to the amazing school. It was 1991, the year the famous Harry Potter started school. He was ten years old, still no sign of magic. His family grew worried.
Months trickled by, his parents frustrated. They hired people, called in favors, everything to help their son emit some sort of magic. They needed to know if he was a squib. They dreaded a squib. Their children had to be normal. Age eleven came. No letter. The family was sure everything would be fine, surely there was some magical sign they never noticed. The cut-off date came, soon his sisters were off on the Hogsmeade Express. Jack there, stood still. He stood tall, trying to hold back his tears. He was not invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It had been confirmed with trips to some magic experts... Jack Dawson Urbano was a squib. The first squib the family has had in nine generations. They were surely cursed.
Muggle world. The family had to adapt to the world of muggles. Their son, their only son couldn't do magic. He was a squib. He was an outcast by the family. Jack's mother cried deep into the nights, wondering what she did wrong with Jack. The father was stern, just looked. He didn't show emotion nor make a sound. A week passed by, Jack barely saw his dad. His mother cried constantly. Finally, Jack's father walked out and touched his shoulder. The two apparated away and appeared in front of a school in London. It was a private school. He had been going to charm school all of his life until that moment. He was told by his father, very words that he still tells his children when he tells them the stories of his childhood, "Son, you may not have magic. But, you better the hell make yourself into something. You have no excuse." And thus Jack begun school in the muggle world, keeping the magical world a secret. Fully aware of a world, of a school full of magic and spells. Watching school talent shows or kids doing card tricks, he was never impressed. He wanted to tell them his sister could kick their ass by pointing a stick at them.
The school life went well. It took some time for Jack to get over the fact he wouldn't have magic. He couldn't get a wand. His parents even tried to get him to wave a few, nothing responded. So it was the muggle world. In school he decided he liked building things. He liked computers, the wires. It fascinated him how he could come home and show his parents something he made in class, a remote control car, a motorboat for their pool. Things he learned to build himself. When he was sixteen he decided he wanted to be an engineer. The school gave him aptitude test from the military. He was curious about them, saw videos and movies. The Navy fascinated him, submarines did. The idea of living beneath the sea was a world of huge difference. Flirting with girls was a pastime, but, he was more focused on smashing things together.
When he was seventeen he graduated from his private secondary school. He was accepted to two universities, he was seriously considering taking one. But, he decided to go to a university near a Naval base, that'd allow him to enroll in the Navy while learning to be an engineer, he was told it'd have more hands on training. The military men were tough. It'd prove a point to his father, he could do something with himself. He can be a Navy man and conquer the seas, learn to fight without magic. Learn to use science, learn to use wires, learn technology. Because he signed up before he turned eighteen, his enlistment ended the day of his twenty-second birthday. "I'm joining the navy, dad." he spoke to his father aloud when his family was gathered in the living room discussing his graduation plans, the universities he'd be going to. "To the hell you are. We deal enough with the mudbloods." was the response he got. He did it anyway. He joined the Royal Navy. He didn't care what his father thought. He volunteered for submariner duty. He just wanted to get away, his father couldn't follow him to the bottom of the sea.
At the age of eighteen he broke up with his girlfriend. A month and a half later when he was off for his first deployment in a day, his girlfriend told him he was going to be a father. The child's his. Jack shook his head and demanded no part. He'd sign away the rights, he didn't want a child. He agreed to give her up for adoption. His girlfriend was never the one anyway. He always felt so embarrassed to even bring her home to his parents, so he never did. He pretended his parents were dead to her so he wouldn't have to explain magic nor get into trouble about it. He had volunteered for Submarine duty by choice. Luckily, he got it and was assigned to help out with the reactor. His job was to fetch wires, hold cables still. He watched the pinnacle of nuclear technology, wiring, everything. He got to go to the bridge, command centers, he got to see the heart of the submarine.
For the first year it was mostly him holding wires, acting as if he were an assistant to someone. Being a submariner, the days were eighteen hours. Twenty-four hours? They don't exist. At least in the world of submariners. Eighteen hour days. Six hours of work. Twelve off. In the twelve he had to sleep, study, shower, help out with whatever. Because he was just starting he was only an Able Seaman. Within his first year he was bumped to Leading Seaman. In the second year he started off as a Petty Officer. He continued his studies, on shore leave he went to classes and took tests. In his third year of service, a week after he turned twenty-one he received a mail call, not from his family but from his ex-girlfriend. It was a set of papers, adoption papers for his son. He didn't even realize she kept the child. He signed it, but hesitated. The kid was thrilling, but he had a career, he needed studies. Adoption. Another man's name. She found someone. He signed the papers and sent them back. The child he never met was no longer his with that scratch of the pen.
He invited his parents and his sisters one summer for the cruise. He hadn't for a few years, because he didn't get first choice. But, now, he was in. He could invite his family. He asked them to come. His mother replied back with a howler that nearly got him court marshaled. "No! I will not be caught dead on some muggle contraption. Enjoy your life, you could've worked at some shop here in town!" He was disappointed. He didn't hear back from his dad or his sisters. He was saddened and he reported to the Commodore of the boat his family would not be coming to join him. He gave a weak smile with it, he agreed to stay onboard the submarine without shore leave to help the others connect with their family and help keep the computers running with internet for the teenagers wouldn't get too bored without television reception and their social media forums... Which at the time was some weird place called MySpace.
The day they were leaving, an hour before most of the families arrived. Just the early stray birds came and took their sons off to a nice breakfast or brunch. There were no females on the crew. There was never a female crew member unless there was some science mission the uppers in the Royal Navy wanted done. Once there was a government woman visiting, but she only stayed for a few hours. She was the first woman he had to salute to, she outranked him. He spotted someone familiar. He was captivated by the familiar person. He walked out to the fellow Seaman talking to this man. But... It wasn't any Seaman, it was the Commodore he was talking with. There was another man with him, a Vice Admiral, not a Rear Admiral, the Vice Admiral! One of the top ranking guys in the fleet. "Urbano, son. You didn't tell me your father knew Admiral Miller."
Jack stood shocked, not sure what to say. He just gave a weak smile, surprised to see his father there. "I thought you weren't coming," he told his father. He was nervous as heck. There was his father, a man so stern, a man that was a man's man. The strongest man he knew, standing there. In front of him. Talking to his boss's, boss's, boss's, boss's, boss's, many ranks ahead of him boss's. His father turned to the Commodore, "I apologize for not giving my son notice I'd be coming. I hope it is not too late. It's just me. Wife and the daughters aren't here. I thought this would be great, father and son." he wrapped his arm around Jack. Jack was speechless, he didn't know what to say. He just gave a soft smile, still shocked his dad actually came out to the muggle world to see his work.
The submarine pulled out of the port. The Rear Admiral joined them as well and went to the Commodore's ready room. It would've normally been a captain's ready room, but the Commodore was in charge of the ship, and hence it belonged to him. The XO of the ship, the Executive Officer tracked him and his father down in the middle of the tour he was giving his father after they ate dinner, about six hours after they left. He was ordered to follow him to the bridge. He saluted and obeyed the command turning to his father telling him to watch his head as they crossed out of a narrow passage to take a shortcut. On the bridge the XO returned to the Commodore's side, they saw the Rear Admiral there. The Commodore smiled and offered Jack's father a chance to look through the periscope. He did and he was in shock wondering how deep they were. "Two fifty meters, dad." Jack answered reading the meter gage. Everyone was taught to read those. His father stared at him for further clarification, "And that is?" he spoke to his son. Jack smirked, grabbing his father's arm and rolling up his shirt while his superiors watched. He touched his father's wrist and elbow. "The distance between your wrist and elbow is a foot, it's the same for almost everyone. It's about eight hundred and twenty of those, dad. That's how deep we are." Garrison, Jack's dad whistled.
The tour went well, the next day they pulled into the port again. He told his father goodbye and that he was happy to see him. His father gave him a hug, catching him off guard and spoke "Proud of you son, you're making something of yourself." He apparated away within the hug. Jack had no idea how he did that. His mother couldn't do that, nor could his sisters. Yet, his dad was able to snap away silently, touching people or not and seemingly was able to decide who came with him or not. A bunkmate, the one who shared the one above him walked to his side and spoke to him, in disbelief about what he saw, magically disappearing man. Jack laughed and spoke back, "He jumped off the ledge to a boat. Silly seaman, the siren caught you!" he joked, "Magic's not real. Your card tricks don't count." It had almost always annoyed Jack that his friend could convince others he was magical... By cards. If only the friend knew. If only.
On his twenty-second birthday he was released from the Navy. He was thrilled with his Submarine tour. He did go into war zones, but being on a submarine meant he stayed in the water and was out of harm's way most of the time. He decided not to reenlist in the navy, now a Petty Officer. He spent the last two months on shore, finishing off his engineering degree. With the degree, he thanked the naval instructors. He was approached by a Commodore asking him to reenlist, to try his hand on aerospace. He couldn't think of anything better to do, so hence he joined for a second enlistment. Because he was over the age of eighteen the enlistment time was four years and three months. He just signed away his life until he was twenty-six years old and five months.
Because of his degree and engineering specialization his Petty Officer rank was suspended. He skipped over several levels, Chief Petty Officer, Warrant Officer Class One and Class Two. He went straight to Officer Cadet. It was the rank professional graduates started at, the college grads that joined. But, because he had earned his three ranks, Able Seaman, Leading Seaman, Petty Officer, he got to keep those badges, those pins on his dress uniform. He took more classes, more so than before. He spent a great deal studying and learning to fly jets. He was mostly located within the United Kingdom, on home soil. He worked with the jets and became qualified to fly them. He was given a deployment of a few months to a war zone, Iraq. He flew jets there, not into direct combat. He fixed them and gave them test flights. That was his job. The mechanic. He went through six years of engineering school to be a mechanic for planes worth more than the freaken magical school called Hogwarts his dad so loved.
Jack really never dated around. He was so busy with his nose in some book or watching some video on his laptop he had. He was trying to catch up, trying to absorb everything. He kept feeling he was behind when he was a bit ahead. He pushed and pushed to learn more and more. It had been a slower four years than the submarine. But, it had great moments. He learned two great things. He had conquered the sea and the sky, he was born onto the land. He had done all three. But, the skies. He loved the skies. In his first year in aerospace he wanted to go back to the sea. But, now... He was thrilled to be working on the aerospace team. He graduated with another degree in engineering, specialty in aerospace.
Age twenty-six came around. His contract with the Royal Navy was to lapse. They gave him his last few weeks off to consider opting in for another term. He was twenty-six years old and five months. He had given away eight years and just over five months of his life to the Royal Navy. Four were under the sea, four were in the skies. He craved the skies. He was thrilled to be on home soil, home from Afghanistan or Iraq. He was alive, his friends were alive. It was all good. Year 2006 was great to him. It was October when he was walking the streets of London, exploring. He remembered where he was after some wandering, an old restaurant his father took him to. An elegant restaurant. Suddenly, his sister apparated next to him. She exclaimed loudly, "There you are, Jack! Got you a hot date for tonight! Go in and sit at the table with the orange rose." His older sister winked at him.
She had said she was going to do that for a while. She grabbed his arm and apparated to their parents home. He never got his own flat or apartment, because he was never home. She rummaged through his closest and used magic to switch his clothes. She grabbed him again and apparated him to a restaurant lobby and told him to look for the orange rose again. A blind date. He blinked. He was just celebrating that day, it was his plan to do something for himself, drink at a bar because he decided to reenlist in the military. He waited. An half an hour went by, she was late. He suspected traffic, or commitments. An hour went by, he ordered a firewhiskey. Two hours, he realized he was stood up.
There was a girl, sitting next to him in the bar, fighting to hold back her emotions. She sat up straight, with gorgeous posture trying to keep herself focused. He asked her a simple question, "Stood up too?" She nodded her head and let out laughter. "As was I. Why don't you join me? Let's try and scrap this night? We can talk about whatever you'd like. I'm at your service." he spoke softly to the woman. She accepted his offer. She joined him at his table. They ordered another drink and some food. The two begun talking, talking about random things. They talked about the weather, of their views of Hogsmeade expansion, Ministry policies, muggle world policies. Countries, travel. They even jokingly discussed finances and realized they could argue with each other about tax code and law. The two were having a great deal of fun.
One hour went by of the two talking. Two went by of them debating and laughing. Hour three came, Jack hadn't realized he had been in the restaurant for five hours. Hour six came along and the two were laughing as they were leaving the restaurant, they were talking about dreams and ambitions. "I'd like to see you do that, Jack. It was great to meet you." She told him and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you for a wonderful night." She smiled softly as she gripped his arm as to motion him someplace, to see if he got the hint. That was the best October Seventh either of them ever had in the year 2006.
Jack got the hint, and went further. "Why don't you just marry me? We talked about everything. And, I rather already like you." Little did they know the joke meant a lot. The woman, Mayme Shieldheart shook her head yes. She grasped him in a hug and kissed him on the lips. They had only met four and a half hours ago. They walked on the streets that night, the downtown of London exploring the windows. He went into the clothing boutiques as she tried on clothes. He loved being the judge and sat back and cheered. Their drunkness wore off, both still liked the idea of marriage. So, they did it. She grabbed him and apparated him to Hogwarts like he requested. He ran to his parents house which wasn't that far and grabbed his dress uniform. He changed into it. His sisters followed him out, spying on him. He met up with Mayme again who grabbed him and were off to apparate again. She didn't care if he was a squib. They had a plan. Suddenly, his sisters lounged forward and gripped him and Mayme and went along with them, to outside a Chapal.
They had known each other for less than twenty-four hours, let alone one night and the two ended up hitched. Marry. It was a whirlwind, unexpected. Mayme dug his uniform. She asked what the badges meant and remembered. His sisters signed the certificate his new wife somehow managed to produce quickly. Her job was a government job, he wasn't exactly sure what kind exactly, a liaison to something. The two apparated back to her place, her own place and ended up in her bed. He woke up the next afternoon, sleeping through the entire morning to find her fast asleep to, her arm wrapped around his as he was flat against the bed and naked in it. He sat up, waiting for her to wake up, smiling.
She woke up, hugged him, wrapped his arm around her and laid against his chest. She kept touching his abs, his military toned body, biceps. She liked it. "Hello Mr. Shieldheart," she spoke to him. He blinked, hearing that name. He had opted for her last name, instead of his. Who could pass up Shieldheart? He knew the guys would give him hell when he reenlisted, but he was fine with it. The two talked about his reenlistment, and she talked about her job of how she had to go to Romania for a month in a week. "You know, if I enlist for a third tour. My mates will chew my ass off. But, it'd be worth it. Anyways, perhaps I should switch to civilian life, chase you around." He told her he could reenlist and be gone for a few months. "Do it, my man. Our careers matter. We can focus on kids and things later." So he did, he listened to her. He listened to his new wife of only a day. He was happy. Not a regret. It felt right. It seemed right to him.
A few days passed by, he kissed her goodbye, she came to watch his ship leave. He was assigned to an aircraft carrier for a few months. He was thrilled he was married, his best friend got the same deployment. He couldn't help but to stop harassing him over his name. Jack joked, "At least I'm hitched, man!" He was glad he was married. She wrote beautiful letters to him. He wrote back to her, hoping he could do them justice. The deployment on the aircraft carrier was shortened and they were recalled to base. He got to see his wife again as her trip to Romania had ended and she was back in Britain. He stayed with her, he realized she was sick a lot. Getting up. He blinked. Her morning sickness was there. Had he gotten her pregnant the first time? He did. They were his. No doubt.
He went on loan to the United States of America working outside of NASA as they needed a new engineer and the British government wanted a larger involvement with NASA alongside the ESA. Hence, he was asked to go. He got to work on space shuttles, satellites. They amazed him. He was in awe at the astonishing feats of engineering they were. He was in awe how they have managed to launch a large device across the known solar system and still are receiving information from it. He was in awe at the photographs the Hubble produced. He was glad to be at NASA. He loved it. "I want to be an astronaut, sir. I want to opt-in to the ESA or NASA, sir. Can I do this without resigning my comission?" he asked. "Quite a bit of training with it, son. You want to go for it? I can note it in your record."
Jack was determined. When he got back to the United Kingdom he met up with his wife who he hadn't seen in a few months. He came back home, thrilled to see her again. She was feeling better, he didn't notice it was morning sickness back when she got back from Romania a few months before. "Jack," she spoke softly, sitting on his lap in the living room of the flat he and her were renting together. It was abandoned for the majority of the time because they were always off and traveling. "I'm pregnant." Jack gave an instant grin, "You're kidding me." he was thrilled. He knew they talked about kids later on, but, he couldn't say no. He liked the woman. He loved her, even if he had only seen her for a few weeks total. Things still just felt right to him. It didn't fade. "Should I carry them to term?" she asked him. He nodded his head wildly, "Yes! I'll quit if I have to. I'm sure the Commodore will let me leave."
She laughed at him. "No. Keep your job, Jack. You love it. I love mine. Our kid's not due for many months, we have time." He smiled, he kept his job. He told his superior, the Commodore of what was going on. The Commodore simply slapped his back, "That's my boy. You're in for a crazy line of life. We're doing a training tour of the Titan, your old boat. How about joining the crew, teaching the young seamen the robes, so you won't be away from your wife for more than a few days." Jack grinned, accepting the offer to go back on the Titan. He would miss aerospace, he was sure the Commodore knew that. "Well, I guess it's always good to make sure I still have sea legs, right?"
On the Titan the longest deployment he had was a military drill of 72 hours. He was able to come home often. His wife was focusing on work inside London, so the two spent nights together most nights. The two were really getting to know one another. Neither Mayme or Jack felt any less of each other. Their first Christmas as a couple came, he took his wife home to meet his family for the first time. "How dare you," Bethany, Jack's mother slapped him across his face. "How dare you, Jack." she turned her face to Mayme, Jack's wife. "How dare you too. How dare you allow my son, a squib, a filthy mudblood marry someone of blood that's pure. How dare you. Get out of my house, both of you. I do not want filthy blood in my doors." "You don't talk to my wife like that, mother. Goodbye. Tell dad we were here." Jack grabbed his wife's hand and turned out the door, to leave.
His sisters were watching. His father walked out to the living room, looking at him and his wife. He had a smile on his face. Garrison came to Jack and grasped him in a hug. "Welcome home son! Is this your lovely wife?" he stepped back to look at Mayme. He asked, "May I?" she nodded her head slowly. He placed his hand on her belly, feeling the baby kick. "A grandchild," he was thrilled. "Garrison, stop. You," she pointed at Mayme, "Get out of my home. Both of you. Now!" she snarled. Jack was angry, fuming. He looked at his dad and gave him a hug again, "I'll talk to you later dad, come visit sometime." he turned to leave. "Stop, Jack." Garrison spoke, turning to Mayme. He pointed at the door. "This is my house, I paid for it before I even married you. Get out of my house. How dare you kick my son from his own home. Get the hell out Bethany, or I will remove you." Jack's two sisters stood behind their dad, nodding their heads in agreement. They loved their brother. They came to give Jack a hug, and Mayme.
The rest of Christmas went unhitched. Bethany came back, but kept quiet on Christmas day, she left during the dinner, pissed off. She pointed her wand at the turkey and blew it up. Jack's two sisters invited Mayme into the kitchen to cook with them as Jack and Garrison went to play with the kids his sisters mothered, along with one of his sister's husbands. They went outside to play a round of quidditch. But, the brooms wouldn't work for Jack, so he stayed on the ground, throwing the balls up at them and catching them.
They were back at home, Mayme took a leave of absence from her work as it became difficult for her to walk. They had told the doctor they wanted to be surprised for the gender. But, they were given news by the doctor. The doctor insisted on telling them the news, breaking the surprise. He whispered it in Jack's ear, to keep it a surprise to his wife. He couldn't. He reacted. "TWINS?! ARE YOU JOKING?!" Mayme stared at him in shock. It meant they had to rethink the nursery. Back on the base the Commodore and Jack were talking. As a Midshipmen he had become friends with many of the officers he once looked up to. "Don't worry about it Jack. Our grandchild just got out of cribs, I'll have it sent over to your place." he smiled. He went through with it. It was a gorgeous crib, brought them to two.
Jack went back to working on aerospace planes again. He was training them for speed, the wiring and engines had to be taken apart several times to make sure everything was perfect on the second and third runs. Everything went well. Time rolled around. It was July, July first. Mayme was rushed to the hospital by her mother, Clementine. Jack hadn't been able to meet her yet due to conflicting schedules. He showed up straight at the hospital in his military uniform, his dress uniform of all things because he was attending a ceremony. Behind him was his Commodore and a Rear Admiral, whom had flown him to the hospital when he turned on his phone to check his messages. They commissioned a helicopter to the hospital to get him there in time. "JACK! HOW THE HELL DID IT TAKE YOU SO LONG TO GET HERE?! I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS!" Mayme screamed at him. The Commodore and Rear Admiral broke out into laugher.
A few hours went by. Late at night around 11:55 pm the first child was born. The female. He cut the cord as the nurse took the baby and walked away with her. He kept an eye, his Commodore followed the nurse around. Nobody removed the military men from the room. Moments went by. "We have one girl, babe! Let's see who the stubborn one is," he joked. Mayme glared at him. Eleven moments later, he was born at 12:06 am the next day, on July second. He cut the cord again. The nurse took the child as well. "Boy! We have a boy!" he grinned. "Where are they? Can I hold them?" Mayme asked. Jack went to the nurses and watched as they drew blood from the babies, placed on wristbands and cleaned them off. The nurse handed one to him, the female. She still had some fluid on her, some sort of red fluid, blood. She got it on his dress shirt. He did not care. "Hello there little one," he smiled at her and watched as the boy was given to Mayme.
The two debated over names, neither of them had decided. "I want the boy to be Titan, Nikolai should be his middle name, come on, babe. He needs to be cool at least." He smirked. "She should be I don't know. Hera? Dannii? Wait! Lauren! Do Lauren!" he suggested for the girl. Finally the two came to an agreement. "Fine, Jack. Titan Nikolai Shieldheart, after your damn ship. You can't change your mind, you know that right Jack? I choose Artemis, Artemis Lauren." "Deal." Jack spoke, extending his hand to shake his wife's, they were in agreement. Mayme's mother shook her head at them, just confused.
The two were thrilled about the children. The Commodore stood still for several moments before asking to hold the daughter. He held Artemis while the Rear Admiral made faces. It was a sight to behold when a Rear Admiral was making faces at a newborn child, a man who made their career on war and military service breaking down for a kid. The three men were all in awe. Neither of them cared their uniforms got filthy from the baby's spit, or what was left of the fluid from the birth. They were happy, but none were happier than Jack. Seeing his kids, his two twins. His son. His daughter. He was thrilled. Time went by, it was late. His wife fell asleep, exhausted. He sat in the chair next to her, staring at his sleeping babies. His mother-in-law kissed him on his cheek and wished him a good night. She apparated out of the hospital room. Jack rolled his eyes. "How... Did she do that?" the Commodore asked, "Do what sir? She's walking down the hall, you might've got distracted." he lied to his superior officer with a soft smile on his face looking back at his children.
"Well, I must be getting tired then, son." he spoke stepping forward and patting him on the shoulder. "Take some time off, be with your wife. I'm sure your newborns will kick your ass harder than we could. The Rear Admiral and I will do your paperwork for you, stay safe son." he spoke and walked out of the hospital room with the Rear Admiral, they headed to the stairs to take the helicopter back to the base. Jack fell asleep in the chair, his head dropping to the side. He was woken several times by his wife's nurses coming in a million times to check on several things.
The two children were healthy. Being twins, they were kept in the hospital an extra day to be sure. They were told they could go home. They returned to their flat. The first thing Jack noticed was his father was there. Not his mother, but his sisters came as well. They both kissed him on his cheek and grabbed the babies. Garrison looked at both of them before looking at him and his wife. "Dad. What are you doing here?" Jack asked. "Meeting my grandkids of course, Clementine came and alerted us. Now, we talked it over. First things first. You two better get your asses in your bed and sleep now. We have tonight." Garrison spoke pointing to their bedroom as if it were an order. Maybe sighed a breath of relief. "Oh thank merlin! Those nurses never leave you alone. Poke this, poke that, prod there, weigh this. Besides, Jack needs to take a shower. What did you do run to the hospital?" she laughed grabbing her husband's arm and dragging him with her.
A few months passed, it was October Seventh, the two celebrated their first anniversary. They were tired of course from the children. Garrison Urbano, Jack's father came to their flat to watch the twins as they went out for an anniversary dinner. They had a great dinner, but returned home early as it was their first time away from their twins. They found Jack's father singing them a lullaby. The next week Jack went back to work, in aerospace again. He was thrilled to be back at work, but he missed his children a great deal, more than he thought he possibly would have. He missed the planes, he even missed the submarine. He got to go home to his children each night, he loved it.
When the twins were ten months old their mother was transferred to Ankara in Turkey for her work. Because Jack went off on a tour as he was ordered to do so, she took the twins with her. They lived in Ankara, Turkey for a total of three and a half months. In Turkey the twins had a nanny watching after them while their mother was off at work, in discussions and negotiations. Mayme Shieldheart's job was to be a liaison between the muggle and magical worlds, a job which she did quite well. She was disappointed to be recalled from her work, she threatened to quit. But, they had agreed to let her take her children with her and get her housing assistance in each location. It was helpful as her trips were commonly several months long. She could spend time with her children and do what she loved. Her husband could use the Floo Network to travel to her, so distance was not a major issue because he was deployed. He kept his military job, she kept hers.
As Turkey wrapped up they returned to London for two and a half months. They had their birthday party late, the parents gave them their birthday together even if they were legally a day apart, even if only ten moments. Their father came back from his deployment for two weeks as Mayme was sent off again, back to Turkey. She didn't take her twins with her as they stayed with their father. Their mother returned to London as their father went off to the United States on loan to NASA for another engineering project. The twins went with their mother as she went to Washington, D.C. in the United States of America for the first time, they stayed in Washington for six months. Luckily, the American Floo Network allowed them to see Jack.
From Washington they returned to London for only a month. The twins did not get to see their father in that month as he was still on loan to NASA. Mayme was ordered to go to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. She went there and took her twins with her. She loved it in Rio de Janeiro. It was where Titan first begun talking a lot more. It was the beginning of the terrible twos for them during the time they spent there. Titan was a biter. He bit people that came close. Nobody was sure why, he just did. He also liked being left alone and slept soundly through the nights, but was an early riser. His sleep schedule seemed to mimic his mother's on the weekends. In Brazil they saw rainforests, sadly, Titan doesn't remember Brazil very well at all. They lived in Brazil for eight months until they were two and a half years old. He bit Artemis a handful of times as well.
From Brazil the twins moved around quite a bit as they grew up. They had their fits, they had their moments, their loves, everything. They loved their father and mother. They learned to talk, they learned to hide. They learned to cause stress. At the age of three their father was given a promotion to Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and placed on loan to the ESA (European Space Agency). The twins moved to Berlin with their mother as she was on loan with them for nine months. Their third birthday was celebrated there, and their father even came. They then spent two weeks with their grandparents when Mayme had to travel to multiple countries each day for a time period. Their grandmother, Bethany had yet to meet them. Only Garrison and Jack's sisters checked up on them along with Mayme's family, the Swann's and Shieldheart's. The twins loved it in France.
They moved to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates in the year 2010. They got to see Dubai at its height, but Titan only remembers the tall buildings and the scorching heat. They spent seven months in the capital. Seven long months, Mayme didn't even enjoy them. The kids thought it was weird they had to stay indoors a lot. Outside was just plain heat. Titan's memories were not pleasant from that trip. After the UAE trip they moved back to London for six months, of which Titan got to see his father. He took them camping. Titan loved it, spending time alone with daddy. Jack loved spending time with his kids. He was deployed once again in a mission in Syria.
The four year old twins followed their mother as she moved to Madrid, Spain for work. They stayed in Spain for seven months. Spain had heat, but nowhere near as bad as Abu Dhabai had. Titan remembered the trips out to the country, to see the mountains, the rolling hills. He enjoyed it much more than going to France to stay with his grandparents, or Hogsmeade to visit his grandpa Garrison. "Daddy!" Titan screamed and tackled a man that arrived in their home late one night. He was still up because his tooth was hurting, still in Spain. He greatly missed his father.
They spent another seven months in Tel Aviv, Israel. From Israel they went onto Perth, Australia for nine months. Titan got pushed into a pond by a kangaroo. He was not very happy with that ordeal, nor by being bitten by a rabbit. He was furious over that. In Australia their dad came to meet up with them. On one day Jack, Mayme, Artemis and Titan went out to the coral reef on a boat their dad rented out. The Great Barrier Reef was something he had seen pictures of, it looked gorgeous to him. Though, he didn't understand much of it, it just reminded him of the under the sea movies with Ariel the mermaid. His dad was going to go scuba diving, so was his mom. They wanted to see it. Titan shook his head, refusing to get in the gear. He wanted to stay on the boat. Jack picked him up and tossed him into the water. "At least swim around, Titan. You don't have to go under." he told Titan. Artemis pointed at the water, "Nemo!" Titan shook his head. "Nemo is a cartoon, stupid!" It was an interesting trip to the barrier reef. They did eventually get Titan to put on the mask to go under the water for a few moments.
After Perth they moved back to London for just only two weeks before heading to France for two weeks to stay with their grandparents as Mayme had to go to a dozen countries in a matter of two weeks and barely had time. When she got back she took Titan and his sister to Belarus, to live in the capital of Minsk for five months. From Minsk they moved to Athens, Greece for four months. From Athens to Beijing for eight months.
In Beijing, China Titan went to visit his grandfather for a weekend in Hogsmeade. His grandfather had came down to China to come and get him. They took a knight bus back to the United Kingdom because it was too far of a distance to apparate, flying was unreliable, planes weren't magical enough, and the floo network of China wasn't very good. Being seven and spending a weekend with grandpa was a great deal of fun for him. He loved it in Hogsmeade, walking down to the candy shop with his grandfather each day, having a fresh butterbeer straight from the tap. He had a great deal of fun, except for the last day before he was to go home to his mom in China. He was out in the yard trying to draw the tree in his sketchpad. A garden gnome came up to him and bit his angle. He freaked out chasing the garden gnome. He fell and the garden gnome bit his angle again. Titan cried.
From China they went back to Washington, D.C. for a month. In May, two months before Titan turned eight they were back to Washington, D.C. for his mom's work. He got to see his dad as well, it was great. Titan got separated from his father when eating ice cream, he got lost in a foreign city, his accent was a mix of several countries with a heavy French and British influence. He was freaking out while licking his ice cream. He didn't know what to do. He was walking around the streets frantically trying to decide what to do, where to find his dad. The crowd was noisy. He couldn't find his way through it. He saw men in military outfits eating lunch after walking for about ten minutes.
Titan walked up to the military outfit men, he recognized the outfit as his dad was having lunch with somebody in one of them once. He couldn't remember what branch of the American military they were. He walked up to them, his ice cream cone now gone, thrown away. He tugged on one of their sleeves and spoke. "Hi. I'm Titan. I'm lost. Can you find my daddy on that radio?" Titan spoke. "My daddy's a solider too! Navy!" Titan spoke with a grin across his face, but sad. He wanted his dad. They asked him his dad's name, Titan spoke what he remembered being proud of his dad. "Daddy is engineer for the Royal Navy, he was sent here to go work to some place called... CASA... NASHCAR? Wait no! NASA! I think that's them. They make rockets that go boom! Big ones!" The soldiers spoke to him for a bit, one of them gave him some fries. He had lunch with the two soldiers.
He was enjoying himself. "Titan!" Jack appeared at the outdoor dining place and quickly wrapped his arms around him. He let go of Titan and shook the two airmen's hands that watched Titan and called it in. "Thank you sirs, have no idea how my tyke got away from me like that."
This was also the year of which Titan was playing around with his mother's wand one Saturday morning. He was trying it out, waving it around. He thought the wand was interesting and fun. He swung it too hard and hit the side of his mother's desk with it. The tip of it broke off, two inches from the front of the wand broke off. Sparks flew out and caught a piece of paper, one of his drawings he was working on at his mom's desk on fire. Titan quickly dropped the wand and blew out the fire. He tossed his drawing into the trash bin and took off to his room. His mom later found her wand and screamed about it. His mom accused Artemis because of the drawing was Titan's that caught on fire. She knew Titan was fond of his drawings and hated when someone touched, looked, or stole them. Titan wanted his drawings and loved them to be where and how he wanted them.
Artemis claimed she wasn't responsible and blamed Titan. "I wouldn't do that! I wasn't at your desk today, mom! Ask Titan! He was drawing there!" Titan peeked out at what they were talking about. "Titan wouldn't catch his own artwork on fire, Artemis. Right, Titan?" Mayme spun around and stared directly at him. Titan swallowed hard. "What happened to my drawing?" he asked in a concerned voice, trying to hide the lie. "Go to your room, Artemis. Now." Titan got away with breaking his mother's wand. He let Artemis take the blame.
Over the next few years of their childhood they lived in Oslo, Norway for eight months. Seoul, South Korea lasted for nine months. From South Korea they moved to Rome, Italy for a good eight months. They spent a day inside the Vatican as well. After Rome they went home to London for a month as there was work in London. Right before their tenth birthday, their father Jack was promoted to Lieutenant of the Royal Navy. He had also begun Astronaut training. He spent as much time as he could with his kids, he didn't mind traveling through several Floo Networks or Portkeys to get through. It was tougher for him as a Squib, but he used the Naval supply planes to help him. It wasn't hard to hitch a ride when a plane was heading some place anyway. He was in his fourth tour of duty. He was still happy with it.
The twins moved to Prague in the Czech Republic for one year. They both got accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Titan was thrilled, they did their shopping in Prague as well as Diagon Alley for Hogwarts. They had been accepted to Beauxbatons as well, but Titan wanted Hogwarts himself, he couldn't speak for his sister. But, she ended up choosing Hogwarts. School begun when he was just about eleven years and two months old. He only spent about five weeks with his mother in London after her Prague work. On Titan's first Christmas Break he came home to Stockholm, Sweden. For Spring break he went to Washington, D.C. He missed his parents terribly.
His first summer break was spent in Iceland in a place called Reykjavik. His mother had already been there for about three weeks. She was there for the entire summer, and thus they stayed. They did travel to Florida to visit their father and he traveled to Iceland to visit them. His second year at Hogwarts his grades improved, his first year his grades were very shaky. London was where he spent his Christmas Break, while Spring Break he stayed it with his grandparents in Paris. Summer vacation was in Tokyo, Japan. Though, sharing a bathroom with Artemis was not all that fun. Titan had entered the peak of his puberty which meant he locked himself away in the bathroom... For, boy reasons. With his hormones peaking, overfilling him, his libido wasn't any joke. His testosterone as at a high level which gave him a high drive. Needless to say it caused many embarrassing random moments.
In his fourth year at Hogwarts, Christmas Break and Spring Break, Titan went to stay with his grandpa, Garrison in Hogsmeade. His father was traveling a great deal, and his mother was as well. He didn't want to stay in the castle, he wanted to travel alongside his mother, but she wouldn't let him. Garrison volunteered to take him. His father, Jack had been promoted by the Royal Navy to be a Lieutenant Commander. He enlisted for his fifth tour in the Royal Navy. In the summer break he went to Cairo, Egypt with his mother as she had been working in Egypt for classified purposes for seven months already. Her grand total of time in Egypt was over a year, her longest place in a foreign country. While in Egypt Titan cruised up the Nile, explored the pyramids. His mother had to hex him off of one because he tried to climb it. In his fourth year his Christmas Break was back to Prague while his Spring Break was in Tokyo.
The summer was spent in Washington, DC. He got to see his father and his mother often. He loved it. One night in a fancy hotel in Houston, Texas where their dad's work had put them up in a gorgeous hotel. His father's room got upgraded due to the children, they paid the difference. It was well worth it. He was in training to be an astronaut whose mission would leave in a year. In the hotel's main room, as they got a suite Titan was reading a book while Artemis was watching the television while their parents were off getting food. Artemis was trying to distract Titan. He tried to ignore her. He suddenly put down his book and covered his lap, raising his knees up to hide something. A random erection. Being fifteen he got those quite a bit because he was a normal teenage boy. Oh god. he thought.
Their parents walked in with a bag of food, due to the limited seating and the fact she just wanted to annoy Titan... Artemis got up and came over to him. She picked up his book, which he got furious. She glanced at the title and chucked it aside and sat in his lap. He gasped as she sat in his laps, he quickly pushed her off, trying to get away and rolled off the edge of the chair falling to the ground. "Owh!" he spoke. He quickly stood up and ran off, Artemis broke out into laughter realizing what he was trying to hide. He hid in the bathroom, locked the door and sat on the floor, waiting the embarrassment out.
Their father was off in a caravan as he was deployed again. Even if it overlapped with Jack's NASA trip, Jack assured the kids he'd be fine. "I volunteered to help an old friend, they're short a volunteer pilot." He told them some of the details, of how he was going to be flying into Jordan. Titan shrugged, he was a bit upset. He wanted to spend some time with his dad, because he rarely did and his dad was taking off. He went to bed early that night. Around three in the morning he was woken by Artemis coming into his room making noise. Titan slowly rose his head up, "What Art? I'm trying to sleep." his words were soft. Artemis came to his bed and handed him her smartphone with a live feed of an American-British cooperation Naval Air squadron in Jordon had crashed, thirteen were dead. Titan blinked at the smartphone. Their dad was on that squadron. Titan yawned and scooted from the middle of his bed to the side to let Artemis have room.
He laid his head back, blinked again. "You know dad. He's a fighter. Right? No way in hell he's going down in some craphole bible kingdom, he has to go to the stars first." Titan and sat back up, giving his sister a hug. "Is mom here?" he asked. "She left to go find him." Artemis responded back. Titan grabbed the phone and turned it off. He tossed it onto the ground and laid back. "Fuck off! I'm watching that!" "Correction, you were watching that. You know well enough that the news is bad at this stuff. Come 'on turn on the tv or something and let's go to sleep. Mom will get info for us, I'm sure of it." Titan spoke as he yawned and laid down in his bed pulling the blanket up over his chest only to have Artemis clench it and pull the majority over to her, revealing him to the cool air of his room in only his boxers. "Fine keep it." Titan spoke climbing up out of bed, not caring hidden in his boxers were a typical male morning reaction. He went to his closet and pulled out another blanket, a quilt and came back to his bed. He laid down covering himself and rolled to his side, his face, facing Titan. "I didn't say you have to be quiet." "Hey, Tit. Can you go turn off the light?" Artemis spoke, Titan only growled back, not moving. "I didn't turn it on."
Artemis didn't care about the rules. She grabbed Titan's wand off his nightstand and pointed it at the switch putting it out. She leaned over and turned on the nightstand light so she could look around and see Titan's face clearly. Titan blinked, it was much better for him that way without the large overhead light on. "Hey, Artie, don't cry." Artemis snapped back at him giving him a face and nearly screaming at him "I'm not. I AM NOT CRYING, OKAY TIT?!" Titan rolled his eyes. He understood this reaction from his sister. Titan sighed, "Bitch." he called her with a sly smirk across his face. "Woody." Artemis called back at him breaking out into hysterical laughter. This was a reverse of the twins' normal relationship. Usually Artemis was the strong one, comforting Titan. This time it was Titan for Artemis. Artemis often came to his room when she was upset and stayed the night in his bed. He's always been fine with it.
That summer was also the summer of his first crush in Washington, D.C. His nanny when he was a kid and was in DC back when he was younger had a kid he became friends with years before. That summer the two hung out, went to random places in the city, played games and all. Titan formed his first crush on him, which surprised him a great deal. This was the first time he felt aroused to someone, felt attracted to someone that wasn't one of his writings or drawings. He was surprised, shocked at it. He kept it a secret and didn't tell him. He just kept it to himself.
His fifth year went off to a great start. He was thrilled to be a fifth year. He was happy about being fifteen and going back to school, he had gotten terribly bored in Washington as he barely got to see his father as his father was in isolation. But, the most exciting thing he got to witness was a space shuttle launch, with Jack on it. "Titan, son. I expect you to be the man of the earth while I'm... Watching you from up there." Jack pointed to the sky. Titan was at a loss for words. "This... Is so cool, dad!" he shouted back at his father as he walked away through the crowd.
He formed a romantic attraction, a crush to one of his closest friends at Hogwarts. He had a crush on her and it made him feel relieved, he had been friends with her for a while. It was his first crush on a girl. He ignored it, and pushed it away as he didn't want to ruin his friendship. He just wanted to keep his friendship, he was afraid to risk it. He was sad when she started talking about a guy she liked that wasn't him. He swallowed hard and hid the crush. It took several months, but it finally faded away and he stopped thinking of it so much.
With his father in space for over a month, Titan didn't get to see Jack again that summer. He went to Hogwarts for his fifth year. His Christmas Break was spent at home in London. "What the hell, Mayms. No, we agreed on this. We agreed!" Jack yelled at his wife, Mayme in one of their fights, "Jack! Stop! Now! Calm down! You know what, if you're going to keep this up you might as well bring me a damn jug of vodka!" Mayme went on and Jack did as well back and forth. The two have argued before, but them arguing and fighting was rare. Titan heard something break. His eyes shot open from his bed. He walked to his door and peeked out to see his parents moving to the downstairs part of their apartment. He quickly slid out and walked across the hall to his sister's room. He pushed the door open without even knocking or asking and walked straight to his sister's bed and sat in it. His knees were brought up to his bare chest. He didn't care if he was only in his boxers and it was one in the morning. His parents were fighting.
He did not like his parents fighting. He did not like it one bit, "What if it finally happens, Art?" Titan swallowed. He had always been afraid of his parents splitting up. They were almost always on opposite sides of the world. "Here, Tit." Artemis gave a weak smile pulling up her blanket and covering her brother's legs as he pushed them down. He just sat there, against her headboard, waiting. He didn't know what to do. He was upset. The two could hear their parents coming up the stairs still arguing. Titan swallowed hard. He wasn't so happy with this.
His Spring Break of his fifth year he went off to Texas, to the NASA base in Texas to spend it with his father. On the spring break his father took his sketchpad from him, when he was drawing on it, Artemis his sister watching television. He quickly protested, "No! Dad! That's private!" He wanted it back, he didn't want his dad to flip through his art book. "So is Artemis' diary and I found you reading that." he replied back flipping through the pages. He stopped at one, and stared at it. He looked back at Titan. "Explain this, Titan." he spoke ripping out the page of a nude character in full detail, of a nude male drawing. It was carefully drawn. He paid attention to the detail. Titan swallowed hard, "It's just a drawing dad. Drop it. Okay?" Jack crumbled up the drawing and tossed his book back onto Titan's lap. He walked away. Titan was frustrated, felt as his privacy were violated. He was fuming mad.
Toward the end of the school year Titan was pulled out of class. He was wondering why. He was told to go to the office of his headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. "What did you do?" Titan spoke seeing his sister there already. "Shut the hell up Titan and listen." He blinked as he was being explained to how an accident happened in orbit around the planet. Titan knew his dad was up in space, he launched a few weeks ago, his mother wrote to him about it. He shook his head, "No. I need to see it for myself. Let me go, let me go someplace, Hogsmeade, somewhere with a television. I need to see this myself. Now!" Titan kept complaining, he needed to see the news himself. Artemis was speaking, overlapping his voice. He couldn't hear her. He didn't care. He wanted to know what the hell happened to his dad. He knew his mom was off in Canada or Mexico at the time for work, she would already be in Texas trying to find out information. Too far away to travel there quickly.
They left the headmaster's office and walked down the hall. They didn't care that the professors were planning on getting them an escort to a place in Hogsmeade with a television. It was too long of a wait to wait for an escort. Artemis grabbed Titan's arm and spoke, "We're going now." He nodded his head and followed her as they ran off of school grounds rather quickly toward Hogsmeade to find the gates were closed. Titan kicked the gate, frustrated at it. A professor showed up behind them and cast a spell on the gate, unlocking it, taking the twins the rest of the way and into a small restaurant off the main street that had a television set. Titan and Artemis sat there, staring at the small screen glaring at the news as footage of an explosion was airing. There was still no news on any of the astronauts. The professor offered them food as lunch had begun at Hogwarts, Titan shook his head and only took a drink. Artemis nudged a bowl of french fries at him, "Eat or I'll shove them down your throat." He ate a few of the fries slowly as he watched, glued to the television.
The summer vacation after his fifth year he turned sixteen, his mother was in Warsaw, in Poland. One of the first things she did was take him to the sites of the Holocaust and explain to him the tragedies the muggles have committed. She compared it to the blood supremacy, of how his grandma Bethany hated his father so much, because he was born into a magical family without magic. She explained the second wizarding war to him in details he didn't think was possible. She had access to pensieve from wizards at the time of the holocaust and shared a memory with him. Needless to say it terrified Titan. This wasn't the first such time Mayme used the pensieve to show Titan history from the past. This was a common occurrence for him. She even shared her memories and stored his memories from when he was little of his trips that he barely remembered. She usually only used pensieve to show him big events she thought he should remember such as goblin wars, the Egyptian wand battles, curse breakers, to native magic users in the Americas. It was a common thing for him. But, needless to say the pensieve from the firsthand account at Auschwitz Concentration Camp tore him apart.
"How many millions were lost?" Titan refused to believe the high number of people slaughtered, of innocents slaughtered. He wanted to go back to school, go back to his acting, his theatre club as it was fun. He wanted to be back with his friends, anywhere but Poland. He loved history, it was fascinating, but witnessing first hand counts was devastating to him. He asked why she showed it to him, she simply told him he needs to remember, to not forget the planet crying, the tragedy of the Holocaust. He rather liked the more innocent days over the history trips.
It did not help that was the summer of which Titan met Colby Neuroa, his apparent biological half-brother. He remembered Colby coming into his home, screaming at his father. Screaming of how he was abandoned, of how he had two perfect children. Two children that he loved, took care of himself. "Colby? I'm sorry sport, I don't know who you are." When Colby named his mother, Jack froze. "Titan, Artemis, to your rooms. Now." Artemis didn't listen. She sat at the top of the stairs peering down at it. Titan was going to listen and go away to his room and go draw something. Artemis grabbed his arm and mouthed at him to sit. Titan listened to his sister and listened to their father. "I was eighteen, Colby. Eighteen years old. I'm a squib, your mother's family would've murdered her for that. But, not just that. Colby, I didn't want a child. I wasn't ready for one. Colby, when you were. God. What how old did you have to be? A few years ago, your mother contacted me with adoption papers. Your mother asked me to give you up, to sign you away. Your stepdad wanted to adopt you, did he?" There was no step-dad, the mother did that anyway. Jack felt guilty very guilty and continued talking to Colby.
Colby just exploded and pointed his wand at Jack. Titan screamed and ran down the stairs looking at his dad and his supposed brother. His dad knocked the wand out of Colby's hand and it dropped to the ground. Colby roared and socked Jack in the face. Jack stood there, taking it. Colby bent down and grabbed the wand, pointing it at Titan. Jack stepped in front of Titan. "Don't you dare. This is in-between you and me. Not Titan. Not Artemis. You. Me. Let's go outside." Colby yelled something Titan didn't catch. He was terrified. Suddenly the house was on fire and Colby disappeared in a snap of the flames. Jack grabbed his arm, and Artemis' arm and pulled them out front.
Colby wasn't the only interesting thing that summer. Nor was his dad accusing him of being gay or Artemis jokingly suggesting that when she flipped through his art book and saw a full nude drawing he did. Though, his mom was gone off at work for something. His dad wasn't around. Artemis was moaning in pain. Titan went to check up on her, because she wasn't feeling well. He saw her curled up in the fetal position. He asked her what was wrong. She told him. His reaction was an immediate heart stopping pause, "No. I will not go down to the store and buy your... products." he snarled back and stepped out of the room into the hall. Artemis gave a louder moan of pain. He felt guilty and peeked back in the room. He sighed. "Fine. Give me the money to do so." he spoke, only to have her reply she didn't have any. "You owe me. You owe me big, Art. Ugh. Here I am... Going out the door to die of embarrassment." he spoke aloud and Artemis only grinned, still faking her pain was worse.
He went to the store and grabbed random products off the woman's aisle, having no clue what the hell to get. He returned and gave it to her. She grinned and spoke "Thank you Tittttann." she got up, walked over him perfectly and kissed him on the cheek. Titan stared in disbelief. He got screwed. "What the hell. You better not have recorded that. What the hell. Fuck you," he snapped back at his sister to only have his mother behind him, whom arrived when he was gone. She grabbed his ear, "Titan Nikolai! Don't you dare use that language!" he snarled at Artemis as he was dragged away. "Thank you! I love you Titan!" Artemis shouted after him. This wasn't the first such incident that Titan had been caught using language and Artemis got away with it. Titan somehow kept getting caught. He had been caught calling his sister a bitch that summer, and using the f-bomb a handful of times.
"Hey, sport!" Jack spoke to Titan as Titan was drawing on some paper over that summer, trying to keep his mind off one of the films his mother had him watch. "You know, it's okay to be gay. Right? Your mom and I would love you no less, we will always love you. Don't hide it from us son, he want to know who you're dating, who this boy is you keep drawing and writing the name of." Titan blushed. He was embarrassed by his father. The drawing was of a character of a role play game he played, his character. "I'm not gay, dad." Titan spoke to his father. He had to tell his father about a dozen times that summer he wasn't gay. "Dad. I swear, I'm straight." he spoke. In reality, he didn't feel sexual attraction to either gender. He had no problem with other's sexualities. He just didn't feel any of his own. Except for two, an old crush on one of his friends in Washington and another on a good classmate friend. He was demisexual. He knew this.
